My stylist was very skilled and I love my cut. I have long hair and she sculpted some lovely layers and crafted some new fringe, which I am greatly enjoying. The scheduling process was a bit messy and their hours are pretty limited if you work full time(Element is closed on Sundays). On the upside, their location is extremely convenient, right in the city center less than a block from the train station(which is handy if you commute or are coming into Leeds from elsewhere). When it comes to the important bits: the cut and styling, in-person service, and price for the quality, Element is excellent.

I first visited The Element over a year ago after asking for recommendations at work, after my old establishment closed down. Three out of five people recommended this place and when I found out they offer a very generous 50% discount on your first visit AND30% student discount on all visits thereafter(I’m a masters student), I was sold. After many previous traumatic hairdresser experiences I confess to being a complete hairdresser-phobe, but Reece at the element instantly put me at ease and we had a full consultation about what would work best for me. Years of questionable home dye jobs had not been kind but Reece has transformed my hair to the point where it no longer feels like a daily battle. The atmosphere is relaxed, there is always funny banter going on and the music is great too. I never thought I’d say this but I actually look forward to my trips to the hairdressers now!

It has been a significant amount of time since I last visited The Element, due to my penchant for experimenting with the entire list of hair salons in Leeds. Approximately three years ago, I did venture in for a cut and colour however. My stylist was friendly and seemed knowledgeable in regards to which shades would suit my tresses. The advice was welcomed by me, as I was utterly devoid of any hair ideas then. The salon itself was a bustling place, many clients were familiar with their services and I noticed a few regulars had built up a friendly rapport with some of the stylists. When I moved seats to go and get my hair washed, I simultaneously received the most amazing head massage. Experiencing that in such a warm and relaxing environment, ensured that I spent the remainder of my appointment feeling delightfully dazed. Concentrating on staying awake and avoiding the dreaded head-bob should slumber creep over me, was a difficult job! But one I completed fastidiously for fear of self-inflicting a more dramatic haircut than I had anticipated. The prices in the salon are about average, but with 50% off for a first time customer, that particular haircut was fantastic value. Overall, I had a positive experience at The Element. Its existence had utterly escaped my memory until walking past it recently. We may have to reacquaint ourselves in the near future.
