I have eaten here several times and each has been as good as the last. This is a small place that can be used as a romantic night out or a get together with a group of friends. The service is friendly and personal and helps set the tone for the rest of your night. The food is local and always of a high standard. I have tried most things but need to call out the black pudding starter and pork main meals. Delicious :-) And great to finish the night of with a whisky(insert your own fav tipple) on the covered porch. With a warm purple throw if it’s a little nippy.

Winner of the Best of British category in the Oliver Awards 2009, don’t be fooled by its title, The Foundry is British restaurant set behind the train station on Water Lane. Listed in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Michelin Guide, you know when you go that the food is going to be great. And it is. At around £20-£30 a head in a group, £15 may seem steep, but in comparrisson to other restaurants given such and honour as to be listed in such a prestigious document, I could get past that, particularly as I went for a special occasion. I have to say that despite its honours and awards, it is not an imposing restaurant, much the obvious. With its warm lighting and friendly staff, it is a comforting change from other higher end restaurants. they have a brilliant wine list and simple yet marvellously cooked food, consisting mainly of traditional meat and veg.
