My first(back in Oct 2012) was with a my work colleagues and we redeemed a groupon(AWESOME!) offer for tickets and ribs w/chips, working out to be about £7 per person which wasn’t bad at all. This was my first time going to a live comedy event so it was a new experience. The venue isn’t bad and we had our photos taken when we entered. My colleague who booked the tickets requested to be seated at the back, which was a good idea, as we didn’t want to be ‘picked’ on by the acts, as it’s usually the case if you were unfortunately seated at the front. Overall it was a very enjoyable night, as the headlining act was very funny — a band who combined comedy with music/acting and improvisation. My second visit was the Friday just gone, and again it was an enjoyable evening. From the experience from my first visit, I requested to be seated towards the back and I’m glad I remembered. However this was a good thing the actual seat wasn’t good, as we were seated right at the side. However, the acts more than made up for this and again, I enjoyed myself. At £17.50 per ticket, it is not cheap, however there are always vouchers to be used, so definitely google it before you book. I would definitely recommend this as a local comedy event, and you also get entry to the nightclub downstairs afterwards!

Well OK, I only went here because a bunch of us from work had got a special deal but I’m awfully glad that i did. A few of us were a little apprehensive about the whole comedy club thing as there are so many comedians out there who find themselves funny but leave others cold. Humour is such a personal thing and it can go horribly wrong. Our deal included a burger and it certainly hit the spot, nothing flash just a good, relatively plain burger. Drinks were not extortionate for city centre and it was great that beer and cocktails could come by the pitcher(or jug as we say around here) So…the comedy. Everyone of our party of 12(including those who had made a conscious decision to not laugh) had a great time, laughed until we could laugh no more, and left feeling wonderful. I have to admit that I laughed so much I thought I’d wee’d myself(hopefully I’d just spilt my drink). None of the comedians were names we had ever heard of but, whether it’s the ‘live’ effect or pure talent, they knocked the stuffing out of most big name T. V chucklemeisters.

I am a big fan of a comedy night out and ordinarily I like a smaller venue, preferably with plenty of dark corners for me to hide out in to avoid the risk of comedian taunting! However, my friend had some free tickets to the show at Highlight so I couldn’t say no to that! So after a couple of drinks at the lovely Nation of Shopkeepers we headed over to the club to be told that as a group of six we had been put right bang at the front, the horror! One of my party was particularly horrified at the prospectof being right in the firing line so one of the staff came over to our table to explain that she would try to reseat us once the doors had closed. Unfortunately she returned soon after to explain that there were no spare seats for six but that she would give us a bottle of bubbly on the house and another if we were heckled. Needless to say that an hour in we were sitting with two bottles of bubbly and actually quite enjoying ‘getting to know’ the comedian! All in all it was a jolly good laugh. The staff members were lovely and although the food and bubbly aren’t much to write home about, I was really impressed with the service and will probably go back for a bucket of beers and a chuckle!
