Wakefield Hospice was founded in 1982 and opened in 1990 by the people of Wakefield. They look after people who care for, and who have active, progressive and life threatening illnesses. Their shops are one of their many ways of fundraising to help with all that they do for the people using their service. Charity shop browsing is super-great-fun if you find the right ones. This one is definitely on the list of good’ens. There’s always a little piece of clothing I see and grab that I would never have thought of desiring, and definitely never have found in the likes of Top Shop or the like for such a dear amount. Most of the stuff is admittedly quite dated in style and era, but as Amy P said, the fashion is always coming back round, and tweeds are most definitely ‘in’ in some peoples eyes. I tend to go for baggy jumpers, leggings, or things made of nice warm wool to aid me on these days of near ice age temperatures. They do also have an amazing array of random gems like old vinyls, and of course those fantastically dodgy ornaments or tea sets that make great comedy presents or quirky bits for your own abode. Remember, they are so much cheaper than high street chains, and they don’t gobble up their takings like fat greedy kings, they actually put it to some humane use. Good stuff!

If you fashion taste encompasses the recently-made-fashionable country/tweed look and you are also a bit of DIYer when it comes to tailoring, making and fixing your own clothes this shop has some really good buys inside. The window displays hold some of the finer country looking stock that they have in the shop, there is also some rather tacky jewellery waiting to be adorned by fashionite. If records are more your thing there was a large selection when I was in, plenty of Bonnie Taylor, BeeGees and similar slightly cringe-worthy slightly funny tunes to had for a pound a piece.
