Fresh and tasty Latin American food. A bit of a mix, with some Mexican dishes but also Cuban, Brazilian, and so on. All of it is very good, the portions tend to be satisfying, and there’s a nice spread of reasonable appetizers as well as entrees. New dishes are added regularly, most recently the super delicious Pollo con Chorizo and the Camarão de Calabaza. The guacamole is also great, and the lunch menu has several well priced options. But happy hour is the real standout with two for one deals on their cocktails. Only drawback is service can be a little slow. Friendly, but slow. (Do be advised that while the address Unilocal has listed is correct, the current map is not. This restaurant is not by the Cathedral, it’s about a five minute walk from there on Belvoir a little bit up from where it meets Granby.)

Love Las Iguanas with its Latin America menu from Mexico to Brazil and Beyond with something to tickle most tastebuds. My personal faves are the Cha-Cha Chorizo starter and the Blazing Bird spicy chicken & chips but I can also recommend the Fajitas! What’s more, Happy Hour means certain cocktails are 2 for 1 between 12 – 7.30pm and ALLDAY Sunday — Wednesday! Yay it’s Monday so that’s two big Long Island Iced Teas for me . Why not 5 stars, well it’s often busy and hard to get a table and the prices are bit higher than I think they should be otherwise it’d be full marks! Still it’s quiet tonight and as such my starter has arrived in the time it’s taken me to write this review so excuse my while I dive in!

went there for a first date and when i booked the table i told staff there the situation and gave them a rose to put behind the counter to surprise the lady, the staff were very helpful, friendly and helped the night run smoothly, the food is great and they have a nice selection of cocktails, plus the atmosphere was very nice.

Great food; exceptional early evening deal with attentive staff– they just need to learn to stop asking ‘is everything alright?’; that said great wee place. Gracias.

This is my first time in a Mexican restaurant, so take my review as someone experiencing a place like Las Iguanas for the first time. We headed over to LI for a late meal after a day full of queuing for rides at Alton Towers, our tummies rumbling for something to fill out the cavernous voids within. Ambling in at about nine o’ clock we found a neat little open-booth to sit in by the bar. The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. Salsa-style music played over the speakers while a series of screens behind the bar played videos of Carnivals, bar staff were quick in their mixing of cocktails(I can recommend the Rum/Lime/Coke«Cuba Libré!). We were eventually shown to our table(fifteen minutes late, nobody thought to tell us, unfortunately) and boggled at the A3 sheets of paper offering everything under the sun. We ordered, and at great length we were served, possibly because of the multiple birthday parties that were going on at the time. One shared startedr(bread & olives) was served a good fifteen minutes before the rest of us set eyes on our own food. I went for Choritzo Ricota, a tapas that included hunks of bread to mop up the meaty alcoholic juices. It was good. Swap-over between starters and mains was quick enough, maybe a little too quick, barely allowing us to start conversation post face-stuffing before our next course arrived. Beef burrito with caramelised onions, packed with rice and other assorted goodies, and a generous side-salad with great big strips of cucumber to offset the spiciness the burrito left. Please note, I am a spice-wimp. Lastly had a tropical take on an Eton mess, substituting traditional berries for mango and passion fruit sauces, it went down well. My recollection of the rest of the night is a little hazy due to a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea and an impromptu shot of tequila, all served up speedily and with a smile. Our very own birthday boy was treated to a big old cocktail(and possibly something with a candle in it, I forget now) on the house, with plenty of crushed-ice. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive, the only criticism I can give is the timings between courses, which either seemed to take an age, or passed too quickly. Between 10 people, and after a copious amount of alcohol consumed, the whole shebang cost about £25/pp, not bad at all! I’m planning on visiting the Las Iguanas in Birmingham next to see how it matches up.

We went there before visiting the Odeon. Because the cinema is closed just before the film begins. All other locations were crowded so our choice fell on Las Iguanas a bit unintendend. For drinks we were allowed to sit at the bar directly or at the front windows, which were not sealed properly. It had 0 degrees outside, so this was a bit uncosy. Anyway both cocktails were tasty and prices moderate. It was kind of nice for us as tourists to sit by the window and watch the outside crowd on leiscester square walking by. Was good enough for that intention.

The food here is massively underspiced and tastes pretty much like it’s just come out of a microwave. It’s saving grace is that the lunchtime/early evening menu is incredibly cheap.

What a disappointment. I love mexican food and had just returned from a holiday in Mexico and went here for my 2nd anniversary. The menu is not very inspiring, it took quite a long time for both of us to find something we fancied eating and when it came it was very ordinary. I wouldn’t bother.

Great South American restaurant. Amazing cocktails, especially good value at happy hour. Good food, but it doesn;t seem to change its menu. Can get boring after a while and after a few drinks i don’t really care! Staff friendly, but often very noisy.

I came here for a birthday meal and they were very accomodating, providing us with menus and drink lists before we even got there. great jugs of cocktails went down very well too!

I have been here so many times it’s untrue: funky décor, great lighting, wicked latino tunes, it’s a really good place just to grab a cocktail to be honest. However, it is a latino restaurant and their menu is great. They do update it every year or so so you can get something different to try, but why would you want to? There’s an excellent value lunch menu(with which you can get your first drink for £1.50) and that has some lovely options. I adore the enchiladas, great spicey flavour with a heavenly dressing on the accompanying salad. If you can splash out in there, get a dessert, the Aztec spiced chocolate cake is a flavour that will stay with you for a long time!

This is a real American-Mexican treat, you can find everything from tapas to burgers and much more in-between. I had the five plate tapas, this is five full potions of what ever you want from the tapas menu on full-size plats, there is no skimping and there is a good vegetarian option on this menu. They also are open as a cocktail bar so its the place to meet friends and have a happy hour two for one drink up until 5pm. The music is lively and the bar and restraint staff friendly and helpful. Ideal for a party or after work get together or a few drinks before hitting the clubs in Leicester city centre.
