The Works

This sells abit of this that and the other but mostly bargain books. Also good for cheap art materials. So not the latest books but some interesting ones if you strike lucky.

this place is great for picking up bargains, huge range of childrens books and art materials.
It is cheap and therefore sometimes the quality isnt what you would get from an expensive shop but you pay for what you get.
It does always seem to be having a closing down sale when obv its not closing down which is annoying but then the bargains they have at these times is great.

The Works is basically a cut-​price books and toys/​gadgets store. If you are looking for the latest titles and releases you would be better served heading to Borders or Waterstones but if your looking for an impulsive purchase, this store has some great prices on every type of books and subject under the sun. As mentioned in the other reviews, the condition/​quality of the product isn’t guranteed so check it over if you are picky about quality.
The Works also offers products for the more arty sorts and also some weird and wonderful toys and gadges that would work as a good surprise present for a loved one. There isn’t really another shop like this in Leicester so if your looking for something a little different from the big bookstore chains, you could do worse than pay The Works a visit.

The Works is a fantastic little store which is great for picking up cheap books and stuff. As a student I find it great to go here and snatch up revision guides dirt cheap or various texts for English class. They don’t really have that much fiction but there is a lot of stuff for children such as toys and arts and crafts and the prices are very strong and if you can find what you want then you can guarentee it’ll be a bargain.
The staff are mainly uninvolved in the shopping process due to the size of the store being so small and crowded all the time but I have found them very helpful both with general information and when returning a book I f ound had been scribbled in when I got home.
The only disadvantage is the constant ‘CLOSING DOWN SALES’ they seem to have to draw ther customers in but alas they never do close their doors

This is a really great little shop for picking up cheap books, toys and art/​craft material. There are a number of these discount book shops across the country. It’s cheap and cheerful so do check over your purchase for quality before you hand over any cash.
That said, they do have a great selection, particularly in sections like cookery and travel books and the art materials are in many media and very reasonably priced. They even sometimes have musical instruments available so it can be a lovely place to pick up a few stocking fillers.
