at the site formerly occupied by Becks Taxis. just the place for a coffee and cake, or a snack or a full meal. good value for money and very pleasant overlooking the river sitting outside on a dry windfree day.

An airy room well served by the view of the river beneath the ample number of windowside tables — this café serves the kind of unfashionable food you’d find in the better sort of garden centre. If you prefer cress to rocket, sliced loaves to paninis and pickled onions to sundried tomatoes then you’ll be well served. The ploughman’s lunch is an endangered thing in the era of mixed olives and peanut crackers — this is a good place to find one and consume it in pacific contemplation of the fad-seeking hordes below.

The riverside café is on the other side of the bridge to Bills. If i had to choose out of the two i would defininetely eat and have a coffe at Bills. But saying that, the riverside café is much cheaper than Bills and there is usually more room to sit down as it is less hectic. They do a good range of cakes and pastries, and sandwiches and jacket potatoes and things like that for lunch. Another nice place to sit and watch the world go by(for a reasonable price!)
