Nice setting, good bar staff. Food good(not the best but good) and the car park next door is free on a Sunday.

I am biased to this pub as I worked on plastering the extension to match the old building back in ’88. Car park so near to the pubyou need to pay. Nice outside area if the weather’s nice. The ales are well kept and the food, we found, pretty good. There are often Groupon offers. Very close to the Cliffe area. Well worth a visit.

I can’t understand why it is so hard to cook a good roast! The meat was dry, the food in general was pretty cold and the one small bowl of veggies that was supposed to be shared between five people looked like it had come straight from the freezer(strangely including baby onions and celery!) In fairness, they did provide a second bowl of veg when requested but the overall experience wasn’t good as we had to wait a long time for the food and many of the sweets were unavailable. It’s certainly a good price at £12.75 for two courses but I would much rather pay extra for a little extra quality and care with the food.

The Dorset is one of those great Lewes pubs that is getting increasingly more popular for its food as well as keeping it’s traditional values. Its got a really nice light and airy bar and an absolutely huge beer garden to soak up the rays. I had a fantastic Sunday roast there recently. I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to pub roasts which is really annoying but its just because I’ve had so many dodgy ones in the past. When offered Roast Mustard Glazed Topside of Beef cooked to absolute perfection though, my faith was renewed. 2 courses cost £11.50 here which I think is great value but it is quite a big meal so leave plenty of time to digest afterwards!

I can’t comment on the accommodation, but the Dorset Arms is a very nice pub tucked away off Cliffe High Street in the ‘lower town’ area of Lewes(not far from the brewery and Cliffe church). The exterior is historic — as is the pub itself, which dates from 1670, although most of the present building is Georgian and Victorian. The interior, however, has been throroughly modernised, and is clean and comfortable, if a little lacking in atmosphere compared with other venues in the town. The pub has a great beer garden, and always has a good selection of real ales, featuring Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter(of course), but also a rotating choice of guests, including on my visit the lovely Copperwheat Brew. They also have a restaurant area, the in gastro-pub mould, specialising in seafood(I can’t comment as I haven’t tried it). Staff were efficient and helpful, though.

Right here’s a split review, not sure what to lead on, the food or the accommodation, OK I’ll start with the positive. The food here is excellent, the breakfasts for B&B are good, but the show stopper was the evening meal, their Fine Dining menu was delightful and for the quality of food it was good value at £18.50 for 2 courses, beautiful stuff, I throughly recommend eating here. Right the now for our room, don’t get ‘Room 4′, unless you don’t mind 13 hours a day of the kitchen extractor fan, starting at 10:00 and ending at 23:00, it’s fine if your out all the time but There doesn’t seem to be any concession for this inconvenience, their Website says double rooms £75 per night but they charged us £85. OK they’ve had my money once Shame really as if it was not for our accommodation on those nights, they’d have got 5 stars from me.

This pub is nice inside and there are plenty of tables outside too. Although they have a patio area, its not great to sit outside to be honest, because you are right next to the road and a car park. The last meal i had here wasn’t that great, i had a salad, and although there were a lot of leaves, they were a bit stingy with the cheese! The prices for food are fairly reasonable though, and so are the drink prices, and the staff are chatty.

This pub specialises in sea food. The interior has been revamp. I looks like an old style [ub from the outside but inside is up to date. There is an outside seating area. Its very popular in summer. Thats if the sun appears. There is Real Ale. They had 2x Harvey’s on. One was the Armada. The pub is also a B&B. It has single and double rooms. Rooms have Tv. The staff are young and helpfull.
