I stopped there one sunny late August morning and had a bacon sandwich and mug of latte. The owner asked me if I wanted thick bread or ordinary, so I said yes to the first. She wasn’t kidding! The whole thing was nearly three inches thick. It would have been indigestible except that the bread was fresh and tasty. The bacon was freshly fried and the coffee washed it all down nicely, as my dog and I sat outside in the sun. Total cost was £3.40. Made a very welcome stop. Exactly what I needed to break a long walk.(And the owner was happy for dogs to go in.) Warmly recommended, Roger PS The place used to be called Ma’s Kitchen and is near a ship’s chandler at the bridge end of Rope Walk. I’d earlier tried the East Beach Café at the other end but they didn’t even have their fryer working.
