This store is a serious dump and particularly the upper floor. lt gives the impression of somewhere that is about to close down. The lower floor is a nightmare to get through with it’s narrow aisles and the usual mix of browsers clogging everywhere up. Rather than being a customer anymore, l mainly use it as a short-cut. Even a serious dump can have it’s uses!

This branch of Boots is excellent. It is situated in the heart of the city centre and has a huge range of, well, everything. On the ground floor you have a large pharmacy area, cosmetics concessions, perfumes, toiletries, holiday items, food, and hair products. Upstairs has baby clothes and products, a large camera and film processing section and a wide range of electronics. The different products are organised into clearly marked sections and it is easy to find everything in store. If you are a bit lost the staff are more than happy to help you. There are often offers displayed for multibuys and the products are competitively priced. When I used to work in the city centre I bought my lunch at Boots for most of the week. They have an excellent value meal deal where you can buy sandwiches, wraps, salads or sushi, chocolate or crisps and a drink for about £3.50. The food is always of a good quality.

You may be wondering why it’s necessary to mention this Boots, as there are a fair few of them around. But this one is seriously something different. I find in most stores of this ilk that finding something simple like shampoo is an absolute nightmare. You can go blithely from aisle to aisle and still be none the wiser ten minutes later. Upstairs is the photo, opticians and kids section, downstairs is everything else, from sandwiches/food, to shampoos, skincare, make-up, premium brands and a chemist. The pharmacy service in here is excellent, the staff have such a wealth of knowledge of their products, so much so that you can always guarantee excellent advice upon entry. The make-up professionals on the premium brand cosmetics are also well-qualified and even book you in on their system so they can track what products you’ve purchased should you forget the colour of your foundation or something similar. Consistently top-notch service makes this Boots the best one I’ve been to in the country.

This is by far the best Boots in town, and one of the best Boots shops I’ve ever shopped in. It’s definitely the best value for money and choice for a lunch time meal deal. It’s just £2.99 for a sandwich, a snack and a drink and they occasionally offer a deal where if you buy 5 you get one free which gives you 4 free lunches a month! They have a great electrical section with plenty of grooming accessories such as electric razors, hairdryers and straightners! They have a great skincare section and often give out vouchers on your receipts with money off No7 products, which is a bargain. They have a great baby care section and a photo section too, as well as a myriad of cosmetic counters selling make up and smellies. I would recommend this shop as their advantage card scheme gives you good value for money!

Located on the ground floor of the Clayton Square Shopping Centre, this Boots is the best one in the city centre. Aside from stocking all the usual health and beauty products, they have an in-house opticians where you can get your eyes checked, try different glasses and order new frames and lenses. They also have an in-house pharmacist where you can get and flu and cervical cancer vaccinations and for those worried about their weight, advice on appropriate diets and weight loss programmes. Handily for tourists, this branch is open seven days a week and a stone’s throw from Lime Street train station. The opening hours are rather short compared to cities like London or Edinburgh though with Sunday trading hours being 10.30am — 4.30pm.
