Bullet. No not another army surplus shop, no no it’s not another adult shop representing small yet pleasurable apparatus, no it’s not a Steve Mcqueen waxwork shop! it’s a vintage clothes shop you idiot, how does your brain work? Not a bad vintage clothes shop at that, they sell lots of accessories, dresses, tops, bottoms, everything a fashion conscious vintager would want! It’s great for really unique designs, although I would say that you would probably find stuff that is a little bit more unique if you delved down to Grand Central(the old Quiggins) for a look! It’s moderately priced and the staff are friendly and helpful so I’d definitely recommend taking a look if you’re looking for something that little bit different!

Situated halfway up a hill on Hardman Street, Bullet is one of those stores that girls such as myself are always initially terrified of walking into because it just seems that little bit too ‘cooler than thou’. However, so far, I’ve never walked out of here empty handed — mainly because they stock one of the best selections of vintage shoes and handbags in Liverpool. Even better, they’re all in mint condition — I don’t know what kind of time capsule they’ve been keeping them in, but they all look as though they’ve come fresh out of the workshop to their window. Bullet also stock an extensive selection of cute vintage dresses, as well as other, more unique, pieces from young designers from across the country. Some of their more unique stuff can be a little pricey, but I’d say that it’s definitely worth it — after all, who wants to be seen in the same dress as someone else on a big night out? It would be nice if the staff here were a wee bit more helpful — and more concerned with helping their customers than chatting to their mates — but I’ve always been incredibly happy with my purchases from here. One small thing if you do choose to pay Bullet a visit though — they don’t take cards, so be sure to bring plenty of cash with you!

Bullet on Hardman Street is unique to say the least and more than a tad quirky also which makes it a fantastic place to visit. This may be a women’s clothes store but I never moan when my girlfriend ventures inside as the products here fascinate me. There is a lot of vintage stuff on offer here and the quality is good with one off pieces which you are unlikely to find anywhere else within the city. There are also other unique designs which again give this place its own little niche in the market. The owners and staff are very friendly indeed and passionate about their little gem of a business which seems to be doing quite well. The location is great as Hardman Street is always alive with activity and is situated on the door step of the city centre. On the whole a great little establishment which embodies the words unique and independent.

Bullet is one of my all-time favourite vintage stores. With a classy and swirly sign and pretty window display showcasing some stunning dresses and bags I can’t help but wander in everytime I’m walking up or down Hardman Street. Bullet has shelves full of vintage clutch bags. I’ve actually started my own collection of them now! My favourite being a velvet number with a gold and blue bow on the front. If you want a unique dress or top then Bullet has much to offer, although their clothing range is a lot more pricey than the accessories. Service is not particularly friendly, but cool and professional. Definitely one of my most prized finds.

I know the word bullet usually conjures images of shooting weapons or Steve McQueen racing across San Francisco in a 1968 Ford Mustang. This particular Bullet however, is a cool womenswear boutique around the corner from Hope Street. The walls are decorated with old fashion paper, the clothes are hung and displayed immaculately and there’s three spotless dressing rooms where you can try on as many items as you like. As for the actual booty, Bullet sells original vintage dresses, skirts, blouses, trousers, jeans, jackets and coats. They also have a small selection of heels, platforms and boots and a growing selection of the owner’s own womenswear label. The only thing missing is, you guessed it, an iconic shot of Steve McQueen. Maybe they should pin some up to keep their customers’ boyfriends and husbands waiting patiently…

Bullet is split between quirky vintage pieces which are situated at the back of the shop and the owner’s own dress designs which are pride of place in the window display and have a very unique style, mainly made from Indian silk and fabrics. Each outfit has its own presence and you would certainly stand out from the crowd in one of her garments. As far as the vintage selection goes, they have a great range of styles with some stunning maxi dresses on sale for around £30. They also have a select number of those tan leather satchels with the gold buckles and some retro heels and boots. They stock hand-made stuff like statement headbands and earrings. Just had to buy one, bargain at a fiver! I’d say it’s a good place to get your hands on some select classic items and originals. I’ll be there again in a shot. Happy shopping!

This place hasn’t been called Bulletproof for a long time and I know that because I haven’t shopped here in a very long time since it became Bullet and specialised in women’s clothing. Unfortunately that hasn’t prevented my sorry ass from being dragged in here by various females on occassion to appreciate the assortment of vintage and original designs that they stock. Male or female you have to be able to appreciate any store that sets its stall out with a clear idea of what it’s about and who its clients are and goes about serving them well. It’s still not that expensive either for what are unique clothes you wont find in many of the chains in the centre of town.

Bullet has had to diversify in order to compete with the unusual number of vintage clothes being sold in Liverpool. The shop certainly has its own little personality and very different from the high street. They now have a popular selection of newly made clothes actually designed by the manageress Joanne. Its mostly worn as clubwear being made with shiffon and glitter its thin and light. Some garments are made from other vintage materials and each piece of fabric is different. All the clothes are low priced for example a maxi long evening dress is £35 and real or fur jackets are from £35 to £55. In addition to Cat suits and one shoulder tops, Bullet also have vintage bags, shoes and boots. Something for ladies of all ages.

Formerly called ‘Bulletproof’, this shop used to be ultimate in funky, and even featured on a fashion show, all because of its surprise element: you weigh before you pay. Yes, back in the days of Bulletproof, you took your garments to the till and weighed them to determine the price. Now, sadly, this tradition has been scrapped along with the ‘proof’. Still holding a majority of vintage and secondhand clothes and accessories, Bullet also deals in one-off floaty garments which are quirky and original. However, the price tags can sometimes raise eyebrows. I was even shocked(although I am a skinflint) about having to pay £25 for a pair of secondhand boots, which didn’t really last that long as the inner lining of one was torn and despite multiple attempts with duct tape, refused to be fixed. Still, I guess if you want to splash out on something that no one else will be wearing, this shop is ideal!
