Not sure what to do with your old mobile now you’ve finally succumbed to an iPhone? CeX is a second-hand chain that specialises in electronics, games and DVDs. They buy, trade and sell mobiles, Blackberries, iPods, laptops, notebooks, games consoles, cameras and desk top computers. All the electronics are displayed in glass cabinets and sold as seen.
Movie fans should note, CeX also stock a wide range of music and film DVDs. I rarely see any world cinema section but the television section is always pretty good. I’ve seen box-sets of everything from The L Word and Mistresses to HBO dramas like True Blood, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. Prices are usually 20−40% off the RRP and of course, you can bring the DVDs back after you’ve watched them and trade them for the next series!

I had £1000 worth of goods stolen which were fenced by cex. When I contacted the company I was told to go to the store where I would be given back whatever had not been sold. The store manager advised me that he had not put any of my goods to one side because, and I quote, «it would take too long». They offered me £20 store credit. Thieving b!!! s.

The CEX on Ranelagh St is in the station and is not as good as the one 5 minutes down the road on Church Street; next to Home Bargains. I’ve never been refused cash or store credit exchange for items, and the process was easy and unintrusive to bring things in to sell. I have also been able to find some interesting and good music there, although it involves a lot of luck, rifling and dross.
You can also ask them to show you the CD/DVD/game before you buy so that you can check for no scratches. I bought a CD once which skipped and they refunded it with no questions asked. They’re willing to demo any item for you, too so if you’re nervous about splashing out money on a games console for example, youcan try before you buy.
Queue tend to be long at times though so be prepared to wait!
