Worst ever restaurant. Waiting to get a seat 20mins at the bar and have called to reserve a table. Place so small and tables so close each other.

The Early Bird specials are good value for money and very tasty, but I knocked a star off for a lack of beer on draft.

Best restaurant in Crosby. Only small so its best to book. They also do a great earlybird menu that is really good value for money. Great food and excellent service. Try the specials!

Whenever I try to picture what an Italian person looks like, I never imagine them as being fat. Generally I picture a dark-haired, good-looking young person. Or a jolly old man, like the ones you see on the Bertolli adverts. They might sometimes be a bit on the large side, but they never look unhealthy(not like when you think of fat English people). Maybe this place should add something to their name, like Fat But Not Unhealthy Italian. Anyway, I digress. The restaurant itself is a delightful little place in Crosby village that doesn’t look particularly big from the outside but inside they manage the space well, ensuring no diner feels uncomfortable or cramped. The service there is prompt and attentive without making you feel too awkward and the waiters are friendly and chatty. The food is a selection of the usual dishes you’d expect from an Italian restaurant as well as a few more sophisticated, unusual ones. The pizzas and pasta dishes are excellently made and delicious, and if you go during their ‘Happy Hour’ between 5pm and 6.30pm or all day Sunday then you can get a pizza or pasta dish for a fiver, which represents excellent value for money. The other dishes on the menu can be quite pricey but are well worth the money. I would particularly recommend the Tournedos Rossini steak if you’re feeling flush as that is full of flavour and worth every penny. A great place to go for any occasion.

As you can tell by many of my Unilocal,my dining experiences generally revolve around local takeaways where the bill comes to less than a tenner or even less than a fiver. However, sometimes I do venture out to actual restaurants where you sit down and y’know, make a bit of a night of it rather than shovelling down a kebab and chips in an attempt to stop myself from throwing up. Fat Italian in Crosby is one such place, offering a variety of delicious Italian meals and juicy steaks at slightly expensive prices, but reasonable nonetheless. When I dined there, I got some calamari as a starter that was light and chewy and decided on steak for my main. This proved to be an excellent choice as the Tournedos Rossini steak I got was easily the best I had ever tasted as it was deliciously tender. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is quite relaxed — when I was there I spotted a few tables with people in Liverpool shirts attending post-match, which shows how Fat Italian represents a restaurant where you can go to have a meal to celebrate a special occasion or just to have a pizza on the way home from town.

Well now what did this poor old Italian do to make you go round calling them fat, huh? I thought we’d reached a point in society where we’re beyond size-ist. Poor Italian. Still, portly as it might be, out in the suburbs it’s not always easy to grab a freshly prepared and lovingly rendered bite to eat, and this dinky(perhaps the ‘generously-proportioned’ element of the name is ironic) little boutique more than makes up for this. It veers beyond Italian in its output, offering the likes of goat’s cheese salad, fish, pizzas and pastas, steaks, olives, tomatoes, bruschettas and ever-changing specials and the like, all made deftly from scratch which prompts the question: how do they do all that in such a small space? It’s not the cheapest menu you’ll ever come across, with steaks reaching almost £20 and fish at around £15, and desserts touching the £6, but they’re well worth it, particularly the amaretto crunch. Heaven. It’s a really pleasant place to dine and the surrounding suburbs make it even more peaceful.

Good to have a decent restaurant in Crosby, its small and the menu is limited but everything is well cooked, served in a pleasant environment and by friendly people, been 6 – 7 times and never disappointed. Popular with ladies who lunch and the early pasta/pizza offers are popular.
