One of my dear gay friends was desperate to visit this bar on a night out in Liverpool. We headed there shortly after it was open and it was a lot of fun with the full attention of the DJ and the dance floor near empty. We went back a few hours later and the place had transformed. It was packed and everyone had come out to play. There are a few different rooms to enjoy and they play some great music. Check it out!

I’d be complete hypocrite to completely write this place off but while I have my wits about me and in a sane and sober state I can confidently say this place has very little going for it. For the gay community — how PC am I? — G Bar is one of the must go places for a Saturday night out in Liverpool and regularly attracts big crowds. It’s well renowned house and techno nights also draw a big straight following mainly crowds of girls or hen parties but of course with this in mind there will fellas not far behind. G Bar is best known for being a very, very late bar which is a big part of its appeal as many will fall back on this place for this very reason but for Liverpool’s gay scene it is one of the main club venues for a guaranteed big night however the music does not vary that much from what I would say was a stereotypical gay sound of hard-ish house and techno and the place can be a bit sleazy — could be part of the appeal for some — however blokes dancing with their tops of could be a bit much for some, luckily it’s a hilarious sight!

It’s time to hit the G Spot. Oh, could you really not see me going there? Come on, you know what I’m like, I see the name of a place, I make a funny. This should be common Unilocal knowledge by now. Anyway we’re back in the gay quarter for some fun and frolics, and how you wish to interpret the G is up to you — guy, gay, girl, spot, whatever, everyone’s welcome here and the atmosphere is that of a par-tay. Okay, so the music’s not always to my taste, but come on, I’m a retrosexual in all ways and I hate new fangled dance music, it doesn’t go with my tea dresses and red lipstick. And another negative on my side is the fact that the doormen can be somewhat overzealous(who’s seen Knocked Up? DOORMAN!!!) but once you get in the bar staff are extra lovely to make up for it. You’ll find an eclectic mix of ages and sexualities at this place and it’s well located just on the edge of the Quarter, meaning you’ve easy access for a crawl around the area. It’s thought of everything too, as while it’s quite energetic and super busy downstairs you’ll find a chillout lounge upstairs where you can breathe a sigh of relief. Saturday nights are particularly exciting here but be warned, the venue does get rammed very quickly. My advice would be to just get involved, dance away and enjoy. Come on, why so serious? This is a definite let-your-hair-down kind of place.

Entering a gay bar as a heterosexual person can be an intimidating experience simply because you are entering into a world which is outside of your normal evening out. Upon entering G bar any reservations I may have had dissappeared as it was clear that rather than being about sexuality this place was all about an amazing clubbing experience. The drinks may not be cheap in G bar but you get the feeling that these prices help to pay for all the other careful preparation which goes into the set up of the place. From decoration to Djs it is clear that the people behind G bar put alot of time money and effort into what they do and all of this enhances your night out. My only qualms with G bar would be the music which is far too dance orientated for my taste and can be a bit repetitive, however this is just me being picky. On the whole good club and a good night out whenever I have visited.

Though Garlands is right up there in terms of greatness, I would say G-Bar is Liverpool’s number 1 gay venue. It has become increasingly popular, especially since the closure of some big names in Liverpool’s gay town. G-Bar is situated on Eberle Street right opposite Garlands’, which leads to a very crowded outside, which somtimes has more atmosphere than inside! . So to the music, Gbar offers a wide variety of music; to suit everyone’s musical taste. It is open 5 nights a week and just like Garlands, Gbar welcomes all types of people, although it is advertised as gay friendly, it is very popular with straight people alike. G-Bar plays host to some of the city’s best DJ’s and without doubt it has become one of the best afterhours club in Liverpool. Some nights are free entry but watch out because popularly nights can cost up to £7!

This a great gay bar in Liverpool, although the music can sometimes be a bit hit and miss. I’ve had some great nights in here, and everyone is very friendly and the bar staff are excellent. One thing I find quite bad about the place is how narky the bouncers are.

One of Liverpool’s busiest and best gay clubs. Very popular with all ages. Busy after-hours dance club downstairs, usually they charge entrance(quite cheap) on weekends. There’s a ‘love lounge’ for relaxing and chilling out upstairs. drag DJ’s in upstairs bar. On the edge of Liverpool’s Gay Quarter so close to all the other gay bars in Liverpool.

I’ve only been here a couple of times and usually after a club, so my memories are hazy to say the least but great times were had. Great music and great people, you don’t need much more. People are friendly and the place has a great atmosphere.

My favourite gay bar in Liverpool, church like architecture, great music, two floors, good staff — work hard and party harder holds some great memories and for that reason I’m biased but give it a try. downstairs on a Saturday night is great
