Until asked to attend for a recent family get together, the Home Guard was not somewhere that I had thought of attending — largely because I am far from getting my bus pass! However what I had been missing was a real working men’s social club visited by all members of the community in small but very friendly environment. Due to the recession the proprietors had told me that they could no longer keep the prices as low as what you would be accustomed to in such a venue but it’s still cheaper than anything in town or nearby Lark Lane and there is a choice of snooker and pool tables in a venue which is family friendly.
