Won’t go here again , only just moved here , tried it once and won’t go again . Don’t mind paying restaurant prices if it’s restaurant quality food like nine dragons in old roan which is lovely but this wasnt even back street chippy quality and was sick with D&V after eating it . No taste in any meal and barely edible

As Chinese restaurants go, the Golden Bridge in Formby is probably one of the better ones. This could be something to do with the fact I rarely visit any that don’t say«all you can eat» either before or after the word«Chinese» though, and such places as these are not known for their culinary delights. My experiences with the Golden Bridge have been a lot better however, offering a little taste of Asia tucked away in this quiet little restaurant. I recommend visiting on a Sunday afternoon, during which they have their own version of the infamous all-you-can-eat but unlike other imitations, the Golden Bridge manages to do this very well. The delicious dishes on offer provide the perfect solution to any hangovers that continue to linger past lunchtime, with the shredded duck pancakes proving the most effective way of getting rid of those Sunday blues I’ve found. One negative I would mention is the music they play in there. As my fellow Unilocaler Matt commented, your meal is sound-tracked by various 80s love songs which whilst attempting to create a romantic atmosphere, don’t really fit in with the tone of the place.

I have only eaten here on two occasions and both of my experiences here were probably atypical, although they have probably coloured my decision not to eat here all that often. The first time I visited I was rushing back from Manchester when I friend rang me on the motorway to ask me if I wanted to go for lunch here — figuring I was about twenty minutes away I agreed and put in my order for sweet and sour chicken and rice before heading over as soon as I could. To my surprise when I arrived the food had not. It was a large order(there were nine of us eating) so the benefit of the doubt was given. A further twenty minutes later and the food had still not arrived. It was then brought out, almost an hour after we had ordered it. It wasn’t bad food(the rice was pleasantly sticky and the sweet and sour sauce had clearly been troubled over, rather than having been simply taken from a packet or jar) but it had taken too long to get to us. In addition it had got to the end of the lunchtime session, with the restaurant about to close for a couple of hours and so we found ourselves being hustled out of the place almost as soon as we started eating. Not a great dining experience. On the second occasion I went with just one of my male friends and we found ourselves the only two diners in the place. While we ate spring rolls(which were excellent, incidentally) the speakers above our table boomed with the sound of Foreigner’s ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’. It would have been a bit uncomfortable if… actually, it was uncomfortable. Admittedly it wasn’t strictly the restaurant’s fault that time.
