Hollywood Bowl claims that ten-pin bowling takes ‘a minute to learn and a lifetime to master.’ My take on it is more simple. If you have strength, balance, co-ordination and competitive friends, you’ll have hours of laughter, high fives and back slaps. If you don’t have any of the skills above, let’s face it, a trip to Hollywood Bowl = ritual humiliation.(:

Hollywood Bowl is an extravaganza of fun for all of the family especially the little rascals of the bunch. This is the kind of place where kids can while away the hours and never get hurt although the arcade ect may hit your pocket a bit hard. This place has multiple lanes for bowling and the atmosphere and fun value is always of the highest calibre. The arcade has a great selection and plenty to keep everyone entertained. They serve food to your standard burger and chips ect which can be pricey but is normally of an okay standard. This place may seem a bit tacky for the older amongst you but there is still fun to be had so if you’re planning a family day out and you are a bit short on ideas then you could do worse than visit Hollywood Bowl.

Ah yes good old ten-pin bowling. A persisting past time which is in the back of your mind, and you just keep going back for more. I don’t go as often as I’d like mainly because it is something to be enjoyed in groups. How often can you get a group of friends together after all? Not often I know. If you do manage to do so, then Hollywood Bowl is an option indeed. I’d suggest you avoid school holidays as certain offers are void in these times. It is good value for money with £6 for 6 games per person at all other times though. Port of call normally for me is at least 6 games, mainly becuase I am fairly competitive and it takes me a while to get going. If you are knocked out in a group competition there is plenty to keep you occupied with an arcade where you can mess around shooting zombies, or on driving simulators. There is also pool although the standard of the tables is not the best. All in all some good innocent old school fun to eb had here with a bunch of mates to remind you of school times gone by during a team building exercise or something of that sort.

This bowling alley is like a tardis, you would never expect it to hold as much as it does. There are 28 lanes so you’re always pretty much guaranteed a lane, I’ve been many times and never been asked to wait. At the weekend it does get pretty busy as there is an arcade and a bar too. The prices aren’t too bad, especially during off peak hours when it’s only £2.75 per game for an adult, compared to peak hour when it’ll set you back £4.50. I often come here when there’s not much else to do and I fancy a game of pool. One of the downsides is that the pool tables aren’t the best quality and it’s possible that your table will slant or have a ball missing! There is a nice bar area with comfy sofas and tv’s showing Sky Sports News, and a fast food bit. However, McDonalds and Frankie & Benny’s are also on the retail park so I wouldn’t bother.

This is a very family orientated place to be! It’s never quiet, and kids love it! I take my cousins here, and they love it, and when my nieces and nephew are old enough, will defiantly be taking them! It’s a very good night out however, as under 18’s aren’t allowed in after 6pm. There is a bar, café and one hell of an arcade! I and my friends often go here if we are just out and about. There are such things as many coin operated machines, air hockey and pool tables. The bowling lanes are lit up after a certain time, which makes the whole bowling experience better!

Situated in Edge lane retail park, close to Mcdonalds. Has a number of bowling lanes and also arcade type games. Looks quite scruffy both inside and out. Also has kids parties as well as a bar area. However lots of kids have parties there and then have food over at Frankie and Bennys or McDonalds. Don’t forget to wear socks, because you will need to swap your shoes for proper bowling shoes.

It’s bowling so you know what you’re getting. it’s loud, full of kids but still a great place to spend an hour or two! This particular bowling alley is easily accessible being just off the M62 with plenty of parking as it’s on a retail park. Free entry and I definitely think the price of bowling has gone down in recent years, it use to be pretty expensive but it seems to have gone down a lot now. we generally only have one game as the kid’s tend to get a bit bored if we pay for two. If it’s adults only there is a bar, or a fast food place for the family, although to be honest with mcdonalds over the road I wouldn’t bother. Then there are the usual arcade games to spend a few quid!
