This place is a bit of alright. Ladytron is involved with its existence somehow, I’m not really sure how, but that’s what my cousin told me. I think. Anyway, they play good tunes, friendly patrons and staff, a dance floor downstairs and during the day they serve nice meals for cheap. So this place is pretty cool, especially for Liverpool.

Korova was Liverpool’s best live music venue over the last five years. It seemed a venue doomed from the very beginning though. The bar frequently ran out of stock, events got cancelled and promoters got let down towards the end of the old Korova’s heyday! Then the inevitable happened, and the wonder that was the original Korova was closed down and moved to a worse location with the promise of a better Korova for all the Korovian’s and bands and promoters that had supported the venue for years. The new Korova had a completely different vibe and was nowhere near as busy as the old one. The music nights weren’t as busy due to the awful location, and the venue’s reputation slowly went down the pan. A lot of classic Korova nights finished and promoters started moving elsewhere! Then the new Korova burnt down in a huge fire with very little hope of reopening any time in the next 12 months. This is a horrific end to what was a promising venue and one that will remain in Liverpool’s musical heritage for years to come!

Korova is a place I have frequented a few times with friends slap bang in the middle of the busiest period at the weekend. There is no other place I’d rather be to have a few beverages before heading off somewhere which is open all night preferably. The place is absolutely heaving with great atmosphere. The crowd is just fantastic. Plenty of laughter, good music, good service, pleasent staff and I always manage to bump into an old friend here which is just brilliant. Prices are as you would expect from a city centre bar but hey, all the above good points mean you get more than your money’s worth in terms of having a good time. Which is after all why you go out in the first place is it not. All in all a grrrrreat place to go if you haven’t been already!

I’ll admit now this isn’t a timely review. Ever since the solicitor’s offices upstairs caught fire in April and burned through the floorboards to utterly wreck Korova beneath, the club has been a bit of a no go area. However, provided it renovates itself to the exact same blueprint, you can pretend this review is fine. Just don’t go there. You’ll hurt yourself. This is the kind of bar that turns the lights down low and the music up high. It isn’t particularly cheap but it does have an innovative method of making money. If you get your pics taken in the inhouse photobooth and give them to the bar staff, for instance, you get a free shot. The photos cost more than the shot ever would. Genius.

Korova is a great little bar in Liverpool. It has a community at its heart and has created an atmosphere otherwise unfound in the city. A music-focused venue enveloped in cutting edge design and illustration. Within Korova there are three areas: Bar, Club and Canteen. In the Bar you can relax in booths(love em); where they each have their very own retractable television, streaming coverage from the live music in the basement Club. The club offers a host of new and up and coming bands as well as those traveling from afar to play Korova’s intimate stage. The music is always cracking and the atmosphere is buzzing. The Canteen is a change of atmosphere for all those who get hungry whilst having a drink =). The menu is inspired by Latin-America and offers large or small meals; my personal favourite is the fajitas. A word of warning, it gets extremely busy at the weekend and if you want a both you better come earlier as they are always filled to the max with people. The décor unusual and the lighting is dark and atmospheric, this is a brilliant venue for music as there is live music on every week located in the bar downstairs. I can’t complain about the drink prices as they are reasonable for a city centre bar, and to top it all of the staff are genuine and friendly. Korova is for everyone, and if you love this place then you might be better becoming a member as you’re guaranteed to get 20% discount off food and drink.

Of the manifold bars in Liverpool, Korova’s certainly amongst the stand-outs, and with a name referencing an excellent piece of literature, titled after the bar in A Clockwork Orange, I was always going to like it. You might be aware that last month it was badly damaged by fire and will remain closed until further notice, but let’s hope it gets sorted or finds itself a new venue because it was certainly a great entertainment spot. It wouldn’t be the first shift in its career if Korova were to move — it used to live on Fleet Street and moved to a larger and much improved venue on Hope Street back in 2009. Since then the current venue has gone from strength to strength, with its kitschy cool décor complete with stuffed animal heads, retro style TVs and shiny happy booths to kick back in. You won’t find many draught ales to choose from but Korova’s more about the atmosphere than the drink itself, legendary in the music industry… it even appeared on the cover of the Arctic Monkeys’ debut album. The one amusing thing about Korova is how difficult the toilets are to find, which can prove very entertaining after a few drinks. There’s a large club/music venue area in the basement and even if you don’t catch a band the music selection’s pretty darn good anyway. Even if you don’t stay there all night it’s a great place to grab a couple of beverages before heading on elsewhere. Get well soon, Korova. We need you!

Walking past i saw the sign for Box A Noodle, being in a bar(KOROVA) i thought it would be a bit dodgy but for £4.95 for beer and a noodle box was worth a try! THe noodles were the tastiest noodles I have had for soooo long! I had Thai green and it was amazing and my mate had Pad Thai and i couldnt resist eating a mine and finishing off hers! Food was lovley and the bar itself is pretty cool!

The noodles here are fantastic and great value for money. The noodles come in cute american-style noodle boxes and you can eat in or take out. There is an excellent choice on offer. The boxes are deceptive — the large box holds a LOT of noodles. I took my leftovers home!
