For all the hype, it was just A-OK. Portions are HUGE, like way too big. But if you’re splitting, then I guess it’s ok. The fish is great! Tons of batter and breading, so if you’re looking for a greasy, fried meal — it’s fabulous. But it was just a bit too heavy for me. The chips were just ok — kinda soggy in my opinion. And how they put the beans on the chips — not quite sure about that :) But it was a cheap, big lunch.

Unfortunately tonight was not a good experience at the lobster pot. We usually love it here but it started as soon as we walked in. The lady who served us was very angry over something and very abrupt with us. Our order was taken more like an accusation of something than an order. We asked if the upstairs was open for seating as we wanted to sit down and we were told«No!» No reason for it being shut just NO. The two tables out front were taken so that just left the side tables. Where do we start? When we first arrived there was food and rubbish all over the tables at the side which were occupied by seagulls and 7 or 8 pigeons. We couldn’t and wouldn’t use those as they were covered in food and bird feces. Do you know how many diseases are carried by pigeon poo? Me either but I imagine it’s a lot. They don’t call them flying rats for nothing. We had to stand at the window inside until a front table became empty and they were still dirty too. We decided to watch the staff and rather than clean the tables for customers they were quite happy to just chat amongst themselves. It wasn’t busy and they had plenty of opportunities to clean up. Customer service is very lacking. When we took pictures of them doing nothing they started to hustle and think about cleaning up. They seemed a bit flustered. Maybe they thought we were secret shoppers! Maybe the management should put them all on a customer service course. Very very disappointing especially as this is our favourite chippy. Feeling a bit let down. See attached photos.

Ok fish and chips. The chips were a big soggy and not fresh. The fish didn’t have too much flavour. Ordered a small but it was a lot food so I asked for half, but was still charged for the full amount. Smaller portions should be available in my opinion. Even though I’d asked for half, I still couldn’t eat it all, so in the bin it went. :/ Hopefully this was just an off night for them. As other reviews are quite favourable. Suggest the owners should have vinegar more available and easier access to napkins, as it was quite greasy. I know. Fried can be that way, but it doesn’t have to be! :)

The Lobster Pot on Whitechapel is situated opposite the Met Quarter shopping centre and a short distance away from Liverpool ONE. This is the second branch of the Lobster Pot to open in the city centre and is much bigger than the original Lobster Pot on Ranelagh street. The menu is as you would expect from a chippy. The food is cheap, generous and extremely tasty. In my opinion the Lobster pot is the best chippy in the city centre. I recommend the salt and pepper chicken pieces as you get a lot in a portion, the chicken is of a high quality, and the seasoning is perfect. There is a large area upstairs where you can sit down and enjoy you food. This is excellent if you have had a heavy night out and don’t fancy donating your food to the seagulls.

I still find it strange seeing or smelling people scoffing fish and chips in the middle of town. To me, fish and chips is seaside food, eaten on Southport pier or Blackpool beach not on your way past Thortons and Wade Smith, but still, the Lobster Pot has always been popular and is clearly doing well; this is the second, bigger and arguably better venue in Liverpool. Lobster Pot have a really diverse menu, its not just a fish and chip shop, and I think that’s part of the appeal. This store offers seating upstairs which gives, at least, the option to eat with decorum and not out of a piece of greasy paper with a ridiculously small plastic spork. However countless people ignore this invite and prefer to scoff their burger or sticky dripping ribs by the bin outside. Nom Nom.

This is the second Lobster Pot to don the streets of Liverpool in recent years! It looks like a well polished, older brother to its sibling store based on Ranleigh Street, but inside are the same culinary delights that make Lobster Pot the number one choice on a drunken walk home! O. K, recommendations. erm well, everything! This is the best chippy ever. Their salt n pepper ribs are amazing, as are the salt n pepper wings. Their kebabs are great; their chips with rib sauce are amazing. Their burgers are great and their curry sauce is great! In fact, If I didn’t put on weight, I would eat in Lobster Pot every day until my sweat smelt of their grill! The best thing about this branch of Lobster Pot is the fact that they have a seated area upstairs to enjoy your meal, so, from now on, you don’t have to stagger around town with your curry and chips!
