Located just around the corner from the popular Meadows pub, Meadows Fish Bar(I guess ‘Meadows’ is a pretty popular name for businesses in the area, but it makes them a pain in the arse to tell apart when writing about them) offers a range of Chinese and Thai cuisine as well as the more traditional English ‘delicacies’ such as fish, pies, sausages and chips. The shop itself is quite small in size, meaning when it gets a bit busy(which is does on a regular basis, such is its popularity) it gets rather cramped for room, but you’re never waiting in here long so it’s not too much of an issue. I don’t usually try many of the Chinese dishes, never mind the Thai, but whenever I’ve had the fish and chips there I’ve found them to be nicely cooked and tasty. The batter on the fish is crispy without taking over the taste and the chips there are light and fluffy, perfect after a few too many in the pub next door.

I had chips from here once and there was a moth in them.

The Meadows is a versatile takeaway offering Maghull locals Thai, English and Chinese cuisine. I love this place because I can get my favourite prawn cashew nuts and rice meal for a mere few English pounds. Service is efficient although there’s pretty much always a queue in this in-demand takeaway. If Chinese doesn’t take your fancy then Meadows does a great traditional fish and chips, or some Thai dishes. I’ve never tried the Thai as it doesn’t look particularly delectable, but who knows? It may taste better than it appears! Meadows is particularly clean which is reassuring. I’d definitely recommend it.
