I have to say that I’m really impressed by the Merseyside Police in general. When I first moved to England a little under two years ago, I often had trouble finding my way around Liverpool, and I discovered very quickly that the Merseyside police are very friendly and helpful. The officers on foot patrol around the city centre never hesitate to offer directions or assistance if you need something. On several occasions I have witnessed minor incidents, or incidents-about-to-happen, and was impressed by the way the police dealt with offenders calmly and carefully. Yes, I’m a people watcher, particularly if the people are in uniform. I also know two policemen here personally, and I know they have impeccable standards and always uphold the law. Sometimes people are concerned about police being unhelpful, discourteous, or even corrupt. I want to assure you that the police in Liverpool are none of these, and if you ever have a problem while walking around the city, whether it be as major as the need to report a crime or as minor as the need to use a toilet, they are always willing to offer help.
