So I’m a Miss Millie fanatic(I guess, the rival jewellery store to Olivia Divine in Grand Central) but I still enjoy O. D all the same. It’s just got a different style and feel about it. I love the displays in here. With glitzy, dangly earrings and necklaces hung on the walls, the owner makes full use of the space available. The variety in here is unreal and you can truly find something both unique and unusual. My favourite in here are the broaches, which rival Miss Millie’s. You can pick up some really beautiful ones for a small price. Artfully accessorising any jacket or shirt. A cool store.

Whilst Miss Millie should appeal to indie kids, rock chicks and tattooed vixens, Olivia Divine should appeal to Pat Butcher* lookalikes and fashion lovers obsessed with the eighties. Personally, I can’t think of anything worse than dressing like Bananarama, the Thompson Twins or — heaven forbid — Adam and the Ants. If that’s your bag though, Olivia Divine has all the jewellery you’ll need to accessorize your outfits this season. Think gold and feather necklaces, big brooches, chunky ear-rings and some truly monsterous costume pieces. The fact they actually customize and hand-make some of the stock themselves makes it even scarier! *A character in Eastenders known for her gaudy jewellery.

The Olivia Divine jewellery shop is brand new to the Grand Central shopping centre(as of June 2010.) But despite being newly set up, I have to say they are fabulous. This, along with Miss Millie, is one of the best vintage jewellery shops I have seen in the whole of Liverpool. There is such an amazing variety, and so much stock artfully displayed in such a small space. Everything for sale here is either vintage, handmade, or reworked jewellery. You will not find any of the garden variety costume junk you would see for sale in Primark or H & M. This is the kind of shop where you find yourself standing in the middle of the room wondering what to look at because it’s all so pretty. Granted, some of it’s gaudy, but that’s vintage jewellery for you. And there are plenty of more delicate and feminine items as well. I spied some neat rings made from vintage buttons and polished stones, as well as tons of necklaces, earrings, broaches, you-name-it. The shop owner is very friendly. I highly recommend this shop.
