This eating experience was absolutely awful. The scallops served in the shell were amazing, and the cheeses were good. Everything else was terrible. The salmon with saffron was bland and the fish was overlooked and dry(I’ve had this same dish at the location in Chester and it was WAY better). I ordered a halibut special and guess what… it was overcooked, too. I thought I was eating roasted chicken breast it was so dry. The service was fine, but I had much higher expectations of the food after having a very good experience at their Chester location. We spent upwards of £100 for one bottle of rose wine, scallops, cheese, and two overcooked fish entrees. I don’t mind spending a lot of money on food, but this simply was not worth it. I would never trust this place with my dinner, ever again.

Nice inside! Paid £10 for a very small portion of Spaghetti Bolognaise, and £5.50 for a very small starter of Bruschetta! Came away still hungry… was nice food though!

Really a recommendation! Super bruschette misto as antipasti and a risotto after that.

Great experience! It is my first time to go to this restaurant, And it soon becomes my favourite Italy restaurant in Liverpool! The restaurant is very good, it’s near the city centre, staff are very friendly and passionate! food is also very delicious and beautiful!

First of all the service was absolutely on point! Our wine glasses were never empty, the food came quick and they even charged my phone behind the bar! To start we had oysters which were fresh and came with the hottest Tabasco sauce, definitely a must! We had the lobster with pasta which was delicious, and not too rich! We had the house Pinot Grigio which was also crisp and fresh and went well with the main. We ended with the cheese board, which had a good selection with the most beautiful blue cheese! It ‘blue’ my mind. The staff could not do enough for you in a calm and professional environment. The décor was stylish and appropriate for the high quality of the meal, which would definitely be ideal for special occasions, anniversaries, graduations. High quality food, fabulous vibe.

Positives: Didn’t get food poisoning… Yet Negatives: Service was meh… Slow by UK standards, and didn’t get my waters until halfway through the meal after asking three times. Appetizer was not too good… 2 little pieces of bread with pico de gallo thrown on it. My main course, spaghetti and meatballs, was cooked poorly. Pasta was clumped together, meatballs tasted«fresh frozen», and sauce was very watered down. My wife got a seafood dish which was dry and tasted like over salted, frozen crab. Overall: Don’t get overly excited if someone invites you out there, they probably hate you.

I’ve spent many a great evening in Piccolinos and would absolutely recommend it. The food is a bit on the pricey side but honestly worth it. The staff are professional and friendly, never too intrusive but always available to help if needed.

For my money, Piccolino is one of the few Italian chains that works. The location is great, the décor is stylish and contemporary and the customer service is as fast and smooth as a BMW. Equally importantly, the customers look like they’re relaxed, happy and enjoying themselves. The reason for this is simple: Piccolino serve consistently fresh and flavoursome food. There’s wonderful pizzas and pastas made from scratch, grilled and pan fried chicken, a selection of fresh and simply cooked fish and a couple of different steaks to choose from. Deserts change daily but usually include tiramisu, pannacotta, semifreddo, baked cheesecake, chocolate cake and a mix of ice-cream and sorbets. The wine list is equally strong and there’s a selection of grappas, brandies, desert wines and coffees for afterwards. The only thing that hurts about Piccolino is the bill. With pasta dishes around £10, fish and meat £15– £18, steaks £20, sides £3-£4 and puddings £6-£7, a meal for two quickly adds up.

I remember my first visit to Piccolino’s, it was my friend’s fifteenth birthday party and we thought we’d go somewhere swish. This place was highly recommended and made for a perfect evening. My friends and I were blown away by the stylish interior, the eloquent menu and subservient staff, as well as the bill at the end. Now, seven years later, I have eaten in a considerable amount of restuarants, spent months in various regions of Italy and realise that while Piccolino’s is good, it’s not out of this world. The service and the food is still good, but the prices are a little steep. Piccolino’s actually seems a little conceited, nice enough but so is Frankie and Benny’s.

Piccolino isn’t one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Liverpool but it isn’t too bad. I’d say the quality of food is ok, there’s nothing particularly wrong with it, it just doesn’t excite me. One of the things I do love about Piccolino is the staff, they are always so friendly, polite and helpful. They seem to genuinely want to be there and provide a good service, which is a rarity these days. One of the downsides, however, is the cost. It can be quite costly considering the standard of food but I did wonder if they pay their staff a lot. Would perhaps explain their enthusiasm! How cynical of me.

Piccolino’s is owned by IRC Plc the restaurant company that brought you Zinc, Restaurant Bar & grill and Bank. Piccolino’s have been popping up in affluent areas across the UK over the last 5 years or so… Now for my money Piccolino’s is very much a safe option for dining out at an Italian. It is very standardised and you know exactly what you’re going to get. That is fine for the likes of Pizza Express and Nandos. However I don’t think ti reflects at all what Italian cuisine is really all about. Italian restaurant should not be about contemporary sophistication and«safe». It should be dramatic, spontaneous and loud. That is what truly represents Italy. Piccolino’s is a British Italian, ie a British restaurant operating under an Italian umbrella. There are plenty of such restaurants. Chinese restaurant with non Chinese operators, Indian restaurants with English owners. While there is nothing wrong with this and there is a market for it, if I wanted to go and taste a particular type of cuisine, I want it to be an authentic experience through and through from the service to the environment to the food. In Italy for example if you were to wonder into a place in Parma, you will be surprised by the fact that the menu changes daily depending on what the chef is cooking that particular day. Certain places get a reputation for good food and people turn up and eat whatever the chef has cooked safe in the knowledge that whatever is served will be delicious. Piccolino’s is great and alot of people love it, I don’t mind it but I still prefer San Carlo’s.

Piccolino is a fairly small Italian chain with restaurants dotted around Bristol, London, Manchester, Liverpool and a few more spots. While not as high profile as the likes of Pizza Express or Bella Italia perhaps, can it beat them in terms of quality and service? While nowhere near as hit and miss as Bella Italia, it’s about on par with Pizza Express. The food might not be the most exquisite Italian you’ve ever tasted, but it’s certainly tasty to a degree, and I have to say that the risotto comes highly recommended. What does set Piccolino apart however is the superbly efficient service. I was really impressed with how friendly the staff were. You can definitely get better Italian food for less money, but whether the service will be quite as good as here remains to be seen. Like I’ve said it’s not the cheapest option in Liverpool, but if you’re in the mood for something Italian and fancy having plenty of choice, this would be a good bet.

This is an established restaurant in Liverpool’s business district. It has a small bar and two floors of dining. I prefer the ground fllor(i really like the red leather booths best). The menu is broad and whilst it is a corporate restaurant everything is cooked to order. My favourite starter is chicken livers with marsala cream and grapes. It is awesome. They also do mean fried zucchini as a side and I usually have one of the grilled options such as lamb rather than going for pizza as I can’t help feeling I prefer pizza in a dedicated pizza restaurant. I also suffer from plate envy so if I’ve ordered pizza I’m always really annoyed when other people get more interesting dishes! Can be too busy sometimes.

My favourite Italian restaurant in Liverpool. This has a pleasant atmosphere, smartly decorated and furnished without being too posh. As you enter the receptionist will take your coast and offer you a drink at the bar before you are shown to your table. The waiting staff are a little stern, although the menu is not over priced and therefore it attracts a variety of customers so there is no need for snobbiness! The food is worth the visit, my favourite is the salmon pea and asparagus pasta dish, huge chunks of fish and a sauce to die for, I wanted to lick the bowl clean! The steaks are good and reasonably priced, good selection of pizzas in traditional italian style and the service is prompt without being rushed. Recommended.

Excellent restaurant, definitely a place to visit for a special occasion. I have been here a few times with work, it’s very popular with professional types, lots of business people in there at lunch times. Food is delicious, great quality although a bit on the pricey side if you are paying for yourself! Atmosphere is really good, the restaurant is very smart and has a ‘smart’ feeling to it. Service is excellent, very friendly and helpful. Treat yourself!

I have a new favourite and this is it, this is more of a special occasion restaurant though as is a little bit more expensive than others. The atmosphere of the place is fantastic it is warm and comfortable but also elegant, they have done a great job with the place, I remember how it used to be. You have to try the Cozze alla panna it is fantstic(if you like mussels and the whitebait also delicious

Excellent if a little pricey Italian chain. Great atmosphere and location — if you’re lucky you can even park outside. Staff very friendly and helpful. Gets very busy so wise to book. If you stick to pizza or pasta it’s great value, the other choices are more pricey.

Due to the fact that I love anything Italian Piccolino cannot do wrong as far as I am concerned. This is a modern chic bar and restaurant based in Liverpool. Though the restaurant is very chic it is ideal for families, friend or even a date. I have been here 3 times now and every time I go I leave promising myself I will be back again. The dishes are a good combination of modern and classical dishes. I have even just popped in here for a few drinks before because it has such a relaxed atmosphere. Although I live in Manchester I have never been to the one in Manchester yet, the one in Liverpool is very elegant looking and is set over two floors. The staff and all very smart and professional and keen to cater for you needs. If you are in Liverpool I would seriously recommend going in here for a bite to eat. The prices are quite reasonable for some of the surrounding restaurants, definitely worth a visit.
