who likes pineapples? It is a fruit that is nice but in small portions. Of the exotic fruits there are a few ahead of it in my book. The mango, Lychees and coconut to name but a few. Again why they named it «The Pineapple» I’ll never know. I do love the look of it though, it reminds me of all my favourite spaghetti westerns. The only thing missing is those flip flop doors. Five minutes from the city centre. fifteen from airport, ten from Anfield, what more do you want folks. Apologies to Evertonians I only mention Anfield as due to its close proximity. The rooms are fairly priced single being a, yes you’ve guessed it «poultry» £30 and a family en-suite being the most expensive at £135(Peak time rates) Only having ten rooms means that the service is immaculate indeed. With so many hospitality options this does however fall into the budget category. It is here none the less as an option, a valid option indeed.

What sounds like a fruity cocktail bar(pun agonisingly intended) is actually a solid corner pub in the Dingle, just with an incongruous name. Built over 150 years ago as a coaching inn, the Pineapple Hotel is a spacious, pleasant pub that stands surrounded by betting shops and accident claims specialists. This isn’t an area I’d wish to stay in if I visited Liverpool from somewhere afar. The staff, all Polish for some reason, were very helpful and delightfully eager to please. One barmaid went into great detail about how if you go to the toilet, mind the step. She was so friendly I became enraptured, to the point that when I did pop to the gents, I promptly fell down a step the height of the CN Tower. If only somebody had warned me.
