Why? Why so many? Incredible. I swear that there are more of these places than seagulls in town. So, I suppose you have to ask yourself why are there so many in one place? Well, if you’re a national chain, consumer demand will very much dictate where you locate your branches and how many you have in any given town. Judging on how packed every one of these Revolution bars there are around Liverpool, it does not look like they will be closing any branches soon! I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, I have no problem with large chains that know what they are doing, offer good value for money and retain some individuality to each of their branches. I think that Revolution does this very well indeed. The drinks that they have on offer here are far more than I could ever explore on one evening, and the staff do seem to be trained to a very high degree, as the drinks are on the whole, made very well. There is always a good vibe in this branch. Can’t wait to get back here soon!

Pretty small revolution, but good atmosphere and right in the centre of Liverpool.

Once you’ve been to one branch of Revolution, you’ve pretty much been to them all — and there is nothing which is any better or any worse than any of its sister branches in London, Leeds or Lemington Spa. But what Revolution Liverpool undeniably has in spades is atmosphere. Bags of it. I went here on a Saturday night recently for a quick drink with friends and was immediately swept up in a huge mêlée of girls in skimpy dresses singing, drinking pitches of brightly coloured vodka based drinks, taking drunken pictures of each other(or asking me to do it for them) and dancing on tables to Lady GaGa. Whilst it’s not the kind of place I’d usually choose to go on a night out(even if I do have a very soft spot in my heart for flavoured vodka — a hangover from my teenage years when I used to sneak into Revolution for shots of chocolate vodka because it seemed like a cool and exotic thing to do), it seems to be a place which full of fun, life and laughter and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Which, sometimes, is all you want from a bar, isn’t it?

If it wasn’t for the fact that this is a Revolution bar — or situated in the hell hole of Liverpool’s drinking scene — it would probably be regarded as a really good bar. Early doors midweek are a good time to stop in for a few post work drinks where the music has moved on from the the old revolution standard of funky house to a more eclectic range and the drink offers and good vodka selection can be enjoyed without the weeken mob. It really is a different place on Friday and Saturday night with hen parties and stag do taking over much of this street including this bar but during the week it is far from the student venue that most Revs can turn into.

Springing up all over the place like weeds, Revolution bars are also similar to teleporters, in that you walk into one, forget which one you’re in and then walk out to find yourself in a completely different location to what you thought. This one, on Wood Street, sits amongst much more interesting places and is good enough for a pit-shop but you wouldn’t want to spend all night there. What would be the point? The planks of vodka shots(yeah they come served on planks, get over it), provide a fun distraction as you neck them down and wonder what flavour they all are and why you came in.

Revolution bars are famous for their huge range of vodka flavours, ranging from the tantalisingly tasty(mmm, Milky Bars and toffee apples and cola cubes) to the quite simply mental. Porridge? Chilli? Well, it is fun to play these slightly inebriated games and trick people into what they’re drinking, and that’s probably where Revolution makes a great deal of its buck. The Privilege card, at £4 and lasting a year, means you can get all sorts of offers related to the vodka as well as their rather impressive cocktails. This also covers regular drinks too so bottles of Becks will only cost you £2.10, Peroni £2.20, bottles of wine for £9 and so on. Situated on Wood Street this is a small Revolution, one of the very few that doesn’t serve food but it’s very close to the central station and maintains the striking décor of most of the branches. There’s plenty of seating by windows and in the toilets there are even some GHD straighteners, a quid for a minute if you need a touch-up. Upstairs is a separate club and the bouncers here are actually remarkably nice when it comes to nipping in and out for the purpose of smoking. While it’s quiet in the day, especially given the lack of food, it does buzz with life in the evenings and there’s plenty of room for a boogie despite its small size. Plus the bar staff are very friendly too and will recommend vodkas based on your own personal tastes. Just whatever you do, do NOT go for the Parma Violets vodka. Those sweets are seriously the one thing I’d have to give thought to eating if I was offered a million squid. Bleurgh.

Little Miss Sunshine Pink Collins Strawberry Woo Woo Pretty Pretty Bang Bang Purple Rain Moscow Mule Club Tropicana Blueberry Lagoon & Absolut Chambulls You guessed it, Revolution is Liverpool’s longest running vodka bar. Plainly decorated with wooden tables, chairs and dark walls, the emphasis is firmly on the liquor with a never ending list of shots, short and long cocktails and pitchers of vodka flavoured delights. Open seven days a week, it’s a peaceful place to knock a few back in the afternoon or early evening but gets pretty busy with large groups of party revellers at weekends.

I hate vodka. I am not a vodka drinker. The only shots I like to down are sambuca flavoured ones. Some shots, like frangelico, I prefer to sip. Vodka I prefer to avoid at all costs. A bit like tequila. Which is why I’m always surprised if I ever find myself in Revs. This is the original Revs on Wood Street, not the new one up the road that focuses on being fancy and cocktaily. This original Revs used to have fridges only filled with every imaginable flavour of vodka in frosted glass bottles. It used to be somewhere you’d associate with Russia. Now, it seems to have lost its way a bit and as is samey as all the other bars in the area. But then I don’t care, because I don’t drink vodka.

I’m not the biggest fan of vodka(I prefer rum) but I do like revolution. The first thing I discoverd about Revolution is that they do interesting and original cocktails with all their lovely flavoured cocktails. There is something for everything– milky ones, fruity ones, chocolate ones and strong ones! The shots are good as well– nothing too sickly like Aftershock. Then I discovered the food. If you sign up on the website, you can get a range of diferent offers: two for one on main meals and great offers on their steaks. The food is quite a step up from pub food and is fresh and very tasty.

This bar is a 10 second walk from the main area of Concert Square. It isn’t that big considering it is a large chain of bars, but is just as nice as the rest. Low couches and small tables create a relaxed mood in the evening, and generally becomes quite busy with a mixture of people but not too stifling at the weekend. Like all Revolution bars, they do all sorts of shots and cocktail concoctions, and play really good music. Staff are friendly and service is usually quite quick in here. Nice place to start the evening in! Highly recommended!

Great! Rev’s are brillthis one has had a recent refurbishment and looks pretty good. It’s not the biggest but it makes for a lively venue. The privilege card is worth getting if you are going to make more than one visit and pays for itself with only a couple of cocktails(which are ok — but there’s not that much alcohol in them). Headphone discos are wierd though and really bizarre when you walk into a silent bar — if you ever catch one.

Revolution is a place i often visit on nights out. the atmosphere i always find is good and energetic which has a way of making you feel the same to fit in with your surroundings. The drinks are good and the coin game which they do at the bar whereby if you guess the right side of the coin you get the same round of drinks free is an amazing feature which i often seem to win at, always helpful on a night out. Great place, a must try for anyone on a night out!

On a recent business trip to Liverpool we came here for a meal at 8pm and were a bit disappointed to find they’d stopped serving food so early! We made up for it with a round of beer and some vodka shots — they sure took the edge off the hunger! I was hesitant about coming here as I hate the other Revolutions in the chain — the ones in the City area of London are awful, but a visit here changed my mind. We found a lovely cosy banquet for all of us to squeeze into and watch life go by. We did feel a bit overdressed though — but then that’s Liverpool, the girls make such an effort to look like they’ve stepped out of Heat magazine!

I love Revolution in Wood Street(Once voted Best Bar in Liverpool in Heat Magazine!) I always stop by for a Yummy White Russian before I hit the bigger clubs around concert square. Revolution is a Vodka Bar so there are plenty of cocktails and shots to choose from — Be warned its a Massive Drinks menu so you may be there a while trying them all out! Its a fairly small bar, so be prepared to stand up! It has Lots of nice Comfy Sofa’s but they are always occupied early on in the night. The décor is funky and Modern and there is always a chilled out vibe day and night. The Music is really good too — some nice chilled out House tunes from the In-House DJ, nothing to heavy but just good enough to get you up dancing! The Bar is Popular with both Students and locals Tip — Sign up online to become a Revolution VIP and you’ll receive £50 worth of offers to spend on your next visit. They also send Email offers every now and again which let you know about any promotions.

This is a smaller version of most vodka bars in the Revolution chain, how ever it might be one of the best! The layout is appealing and friendly, with lots of places to sit and stand. The one downside of any Revolution bar is the price. Even on a Thursday night you can expect to pay high prices.

Despite being part of a vodka bar chain, this Revolution still has quite a lot of character and isn’t far from the bustling Concert Square area of Liverpool. There is a wide selection of flavoured vodkas, cocktails and beer and the staff the bar staff have always been friendly. The bar itself often has an in-house DJ and is crisp and smart. The décor is full of dark woods and red curtains — very opulent! My only real criticism is that it gets absolutely rammed on Saturday nights so maybe best to get here early and move on somewhere else?! Oh, a word of warning! Do not try the chili vodka under any circumstances — it’s revolting! Go for something sweeter… seriously.
