Tess Riley’s tag line is ‘welcome to the local’ and there warm and hearty atmosphere certainly makes you feel very much at home as soon as you venture inside the place. There is something very warm hearted about the atmosphere here almost as though everyone inside really cares about the well being of the customers to an extent that they will go one step further than most to please. They serve great food in here which feels home cooked and there are very generous portions on offer. This is the kind of place which will leave you full to bursting but very satisfied indeed. This place is always full and that is a testament to its wonderful ambience and staff and I certainly have instated this as one of my favourite drinking holes in the entirety of Liverpool.

Directly across the road from the Blob Shop stands Tess Riley’s, a low, long saloon-type bar that must share ninety percent of the same clientele as its neighbour. Despite appearing less grotty than the Blob Shop, Tess Riley’s feels oddly devoid of character. Glancing round the place you can tell most of the punters view it as a local and will head there on nights out without even questioning it but I wasn’t all that impressed. If it’s anything like its neighbours, I wouldn’t want to visit this place at night. There’s an agonising risk of karaōke.

A massive bar with a great atmosphere on busy nights. For those looking to meet someone it’s an ideal venue. The ladies dress to impress so look your best and who knows. The service is generally good and I’ve no complaints about the beer. The music beats out and generally everyone is out or a good night so have fun and enjoy your night.
