This is the first time I visited this pub and what can I say it wernt that bad was pretty busy but got served pretty quick. The staff was very nice and polite it a large pub with plenty off seats and there was a upstairs area but dident go up there. They served food but can’t comment on that as we did not eat here probably will do the next time we visit Liverpool. The pub is across the road from the train station so if you fancy 1 last pint before your train you not far walk.

A place I’ve never had a bad experience in. Always handy as a place for the proverbial quiet one. If I need to catch up with whatever then I can get a pint of IPA here or something, or even a coffee, and just plod through things technical on my phone. Great for a quickie before the bus or train as well as others have dutifully pointed out. Am I going to spend all night or even any serious length of time in the Crown? No, but what time I am there is usually very nice indeed.

I just LUUUUUUUUUUUURVE this pub. Great old Liverpool boozer — like me Dad was lol Please God that they never get the chance to «improve» this and pubs like the Philharmonic, Vines, Lisbon, Poste House, Commercial. It would be a sin Luv ya Liverpool lol!

The Crown is a grand ornamental block of a pub standing on a corner that is practically straining to break free from the rough scumminess of Lime Street. That whole area could use a good hose down in my opinion, or a bulldozer. The Crown would be saved though. It’s a fine old boozer packed with the kind of stout, ruddy-faced men you’d normally find slumped on a couch on Boxing Day. The scalliwag count varies but every time I’ve been here it’s been fairly low, I think they’re intimidated by pleasant architecture. That’s my theory anyway.

The Crown is a handy spot to grab a cheap drink if your hanging round indefinitely at the mercy of national rail. Also it is the first spot for tourists who get off their trains a need some refreshment following often arduous and drawn out train journeys. The Crown does its job well it has a cosy atmosphere which is mainly aimed at the older crowd and the drinks are cheap which is bound to please everyone. The food at the Crown is also surprisingly good and I’d recommend the lasagne which for pub fare is great quality in terms of taste, quantity and price. The Crown has an upstairs seating area in which to eat your food which is quieter and more secluded than the rest of the pub which I feel is a nice, peaceful touch. On the whole The Crown serves a nice purpose it is simple and cheap and not a bad introduction to Liverpool at all although I would say it is suited to a more mature person.

The Crown on Lime Street is right outside the train station, making it a great stop off for travellers and commuters. And what a stop off it is — it’s spacey and housed in a truly magnificent building with the most incredible ceilings and décor which have all been lovingly restored. Being on the edge of town makes it a place that’s often a meeting point for social events that are then heading into the more central vicinity, but there’s nothing to stop you spending the whole evening relaxing in here and with prices like the Crown has it’s highly unlikely you’ll want to leave. Under £2 for a pint is not to be sniffed at in Liverpool town, and that includes some mighty fine real ales and the pub grub is traditional and hearty. The customers are varied, between office suits coming home from the 9 – 5 rat race to boho types and students making their way in the city. The staff are chatty and friendly to boot, and all this being encased in a fabulously ornate package, you can’t really complain. This Crown is certainly a gem and a half.

Situated conveniently near two of Liverpool’s busy train stations(Lime Street and Central), this traditional pub is always handy for a quick bite or a drink with a friend. When some of my cousins came over from America, we popped in here before going to dinner, and discovered that this pub offers something special: they make cocktail pitchers for that are so subtly alcoholic you won’t know you’re tipsy til you stand up. Very cool for those who prefer fruity, but weaker drinks. Mmm Cosmos that taste like Cool Aid. The décor is ornate, if somewhat chintzy. There’s plenty of space in several rooms, so come alone or bring a large group. The atmosphere seemed fairly quiet in the early evening when we visited, and I saw no bouncers. I would definitely go to the Crown again. I’ll just have to remember to hang onto the table tight when I stand up.

A good watering hole, considering it is on the very cusp of shopping territory and standing between a few chippies and Lime Street Station. Last time I was here, my Norwegian side of the family were over for a visit, and they are quite happy to drink anywhere that alcohol is served, preferably as early in the day as possible. The atmosphere here is jovial, the prices reasonable and the patrons varied due to the proximity to the train station. The Norwegians soon had lots of new friends who, I’m fairly sure, didn’t quite understand their accents but appreciated that they were Liverpool fans and so accepted them wholeheartedly. Somewhere it’s easy to spend an hour or two, but lack of entertainment(ie karaōke) makes me want to wander on elsewhere.

Right outside Lime Street station(so very handy for thirsty travellers), this spacey pub is well worth a visit, something that I did on 12 September with a few mates. As beer fans we weren’t overly impressed by the range on offer, but the Adnams ale was perfectly acceptable. Has a main area around the bar plus a back room full of additional seating.

A totally wonderful building as it should be, it’s the first you see on leaving Lime Street Railway Station and heading towards the city. Thankfully the beautiful ceilings and interior has been restored to its glorious best. It is a huge pub that is now more of a meeting place before heading to the bright lights however quite a few stalwarts make a night there possibly tempted by the silly prices– £1−50 per pint in a city centre pub!!! There is also a good selection of decent pub grub served throughout the day. So if you are visiting here is a decent stop off for a bite to eat and some decent beer. One regret the lovely upstairs restaurant is no more because it does hold some special memories– not to be reviewed!!!

The Crown has recently been refurbished, showing off its impressive decorated art nouveau plaster ceiling to best effect, including some rather gaudy gilding. There’s a spacious bar at the front and a large room at the rear. They do a reasonable selection of real ales(Cairns and Deuchars IPA) which seemed reasonably well kept on my visit. It’s also incredibly cheap — there is a range of soft drinks for 99p, and beers(including real ale) for under £2. There are similarly amazing food offers, although I can’t vouch for the quality. Being located right next to Lime Street station, the clientele are very mixed, and it also changes through the day — it’s busy with office workers at lunch time and after work, but after they go home, it can feel a bit dead, although the bar staff are friendly enough. On my last visit, it seemed to be suffering from quite a lot of litter scattered about on the floor for some reason, and there were a couple of very drunk blokes wandering about — not that they were unfriendly, but neither did it feel somewhere to take a date or anyone you’d want to impress.
