Being the largest of about three shops in Hightown, the pub is perhaps the most popular meeting point for the inhabitants of Hightown to gather and drink away their days. They offer a decent selection of draught lagers as well as a variety of real cask ales and guest ales, all at very reasonable prices(although it’s not like they have much competition). The pub is also home to the ‘famous’ in for a penny, in for a pound deal in which customers can order food from a set menu that costs just £1.01 throughout the week which is pretty ridiculously cheap, quite frankly. They also offer 2-for-1 on other meals during the week, which again represents great value for money and ensures the Hightown has more people coming there than just those who live in the immediate vicinity. They also have a lovely outdoor area for the summer time and a bowling green for those of you that way inclined, meaning the Hightown is a great place to go for a drink, meal, or just to relax in the summer sun with friends and family.

Hightown has a grand total of three shops — the shop, the chemist and the pub. As you can tell, Hightown isn’t a particularly big or busy place but despite this, The Hightown Pub manages to excel at the art of being a good, old-fashioned pub. Hightown is a place that is so small that everyone seems to know everyone else and this means that the atmosphere in the pub itself is very friendly as all the regulars know each other on a first name basis. The pub also does food and is reasonably priced, especially Mondays-Thursdays when they do a great 2-for-1 deal. The food itself is fairly simple yet delicious and considering two people can dine for roughly four or five pounds, The Hightown pub represents a great place to have a quiet drink and a bite to eat.
