A place that has fish & chips in its name should be able to serve a proper fish & chips. It tasted like feet, very disappointing. However, local liverpoolians were coming and going grabbing food so either I have the wrong perception of what a fish and chips should taste like or, these locals just need calories quickly.

I was excited to try some really good fish and chips, and happened to stumble across this place, which had good reviews. I ordered my small order of fish and chips(which was still quite large) with a Coke, and the price was fair. The fish itself was okay. Same with the chips. Neither of them stood out as particularly good. Not bad, but not really good. Just… okay. I would try another place next time.

I don’t like eating out of polystyrene but the food is really good and the service is too, if you don’t mind a few sacrifices this is the place to eat.

This is a Chippy located outside Liverpool ONE, This is a Chippy where you can actually sit inside and eat, very rare today I liked the idea of being able to sit inside the Chippy what is now rare in most UK chippys. Although the Chippy was busy, I was suprised when we arrived we had to wait 5 minutes for them to cook the Chips, I feel that they should always have a supply going and this wait is unneccesary however the food tasted good and it was was worth the wait.

Here doing stuff with a local church, visited here while on a tour. CHEAP I got the small fish and chips slathered in salt and vinegar, for 4GBP. I devoured it quickly. The fish was perfectly flaky, and fresh, the breading was crisp, and not dry or greasy. And the chips… I could eat a barrel of them! I will be back this summer for an internship. and L1 will be a regular stop. As others said, its small, and no frills, not even a toilet… BUT, incredibly reasonable.

With this place you get basic, good, and inexpensive fish & chips quickly. Don’t expect much of an atmosphere, but it’s quaint. The fish was very crispy and wicked hot. I’ll be going back here again for sure.

A focal fuelling station for weekend revellers passing between the upper part of town at the top of Lord Street and the manic shennanigans of Matthew St, the L1 can be just as rowdy and lively late on a Saturday night as the pubs it sits nearby. Everyone should make a stop in a takeaway during a night out. It gives you a break from drinking, provides plenty of banter with passing groups going elsewhere and oh yes and you can get some scran. Chippy chips!!!

I’m about to commit a treacherous treason against Lobster Pot. For what I am about to do, I only hope that you can forgive me. Perhaps I was just in the right place at the right time. A time when the conditions for chip frying are perfect, you are the optimum amount of hungry, know exactly what you want and get it. So I only got a cone of chips. But chips are the staple part of a chippery are they not? Reasons for the extra-hyper review? One. They came in a CONE. I was just short of a beach to walk along. Two. They were crispy and fluffy and light and satisfying all at precisely the same time. Three. They were doused in salt and vinegar which left the crispy bits soaked in a vinegary heaven at the bottom. MMM. The staff were really friendly, and they were 90p. All that heaven. Less than £1. I can’t comment on the Fish however, I can only hope that it lives up to my now skyhigh expectation. I salute you L1 Fish and Chip Shop; Lobster Pot just lost it’s crown.

I’m not certain if the name L1 is short for something. Its not the postcode area which is L2. Decorated with white tiles it is a smart clean fish and chip shop on Lord Street in the City Centre. Open all day everyday and until midnight on weekends. They are proud of their 4 star award for environmental health. I wonder why other take away food shops don’t have this award. The Cod is a good size and they fry using special oils. Their motto is «bigger thicker cheaper». £1.30 for a portion of chips so slightly more the Lobster pot. According to the owner Costa, L1 is a bit of celebrity chippy and is visted by the singer Michael Booble. I may be spelling his name wrong as I had not heard of him myself but I had heard of Westlife whose band members are all customers. My only criticism is that I think its a shame that fish and chips are served in yellow plastic trays instead of paper or something a little more environmentally friendly.

L1 fish and chips have been open for several months located nearby the ever so popular Liverpool One shopping area; this makes it appealing for anybody passing the shopping mall at a position opposite Debenhams. The menu is fairly simple and the prices are really cheap and good value for money for the amount of portions you get. The cheeseburger and chips I ordered was adequate and not piping hot but that was not to say I did not enjoy it. The bun did crumble a little as I ate it however it was not too much of a big issue. Upon first entering the shop, the one thing which struck me was the cleanliness and hygiene certificate they had which is always good for reputation. I probably would go back there again as the service was friendly and efficient.
