Like DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger is intrinsically linked with the notions of wealth, aspiration and lifestyle. Everything about the company from their cookie cutter adverts and spotless stores to their primary coloured clothes are aimed at slim, well groomed, conservatives /republicans. In fact, if I could describe the Hilfiger look in a word it would be P*R*E*P*P*Y. We’re talking blue, white and red rugby shirts, checked shirts, chinos, cargo pants, straight leg jeans, college jackets and duffle coats for men. The womenswear is just as straight laced with unimaginative jeans, blouses, tee-shirts, blazers, skirts and dresses that I could imagine Sarah Palin wearing. Whether or not you’ll feel the same as me depends on if you’re a conservative /republican or liberal /democrat. It also depends how much money you have since everything in Tommy Hilfiger is pretty pricey. Guess it comes back to the company’s profile and target customers!
