This WHsmith store is in very central Liverpool and the ONE Shopping Centre. It is over 2 floors with the top floor.(acces via stairs and lift) is mainly the post office, which is still a good post office but slightly dissapointing for a city centre. They do have the typical WHsmith vouchers, if you pass a till you should be able to take them easy if it is unmanned, I suppose they are free anyway but getting that extra one doesn’t hurt and it isn’t stealing. This WHsmith store could of also been better for a city centre branch, I don’t recall seeing big selections of the likes of books but they is a few revision guides. The store was quiet quiet for a city centre. WHsmith is inevitable to visit if you want to post something in the city centre, so they have the upper hand their, in having the post office which really should have its own store, so that pushes the rating up however unlike the Manchester City cente branch, it is basically one floor as the top is dominated by the post office and is smaller so I feel 3 stars is fair. They do have a decent selection of newspapers but I wouldn’t come here in all honestly if I visit Liverpool again unless of course I need the Post Office.

Always a nice place to shop at and it also has a post office upstairs which is very handy. The stationary is always a little expensive though, and so I’m only ever mainly there to use the post office or to buy something I can’t find in any other shop.

Compared to how things used to be, W.H. Smith seem to have a death wish. This place is awful compared to their previous branch on Church Street and it’s a fraction of the size. l rarely use it because they also choose to employ a particularly obnoxious older female member of staff who l have had words with on more than one occasion. The last time it happened, l had refused to let her serve me which set her off even moreso so l asked to see the manager before leaving to get things sorted out once and for all. Whilst l was talking to him, she was talking to the security man about ME. The manager was quite happy not to put an end to it and as she is still there, they have lost much of my custom because of her.

This branch of WH Smith’s is situated in Liverpool ONE. It is bright, clean and air conditioned, which is a godsend in the summer. Downstairs they have books and magazines although the range is not as big as their other store on Church Street. The staff will order a book for you if they do not have it in stock. Upstairs they have a good range of stationary for school, college, university and just general use. They have branded ranges such as Hello Kitty, and their own budget range of stationary. There is also a Post Office branch on this floor which is now the only branch in the city centre, the nearest branch being in the business district. It is only small but has lots of cashier desks which are all open when it is busy. This is a small but perfectly formed store which is excellent.

Since the Paradise Street Project in 2008, WHSmith was another one of those shops which transferred to the new Liverpool One shopping area. I have always been a shopper of WHSmith and I always will be despite the fact that I think it was more conveniently located back in 2008 on Church Street(now where River Island is). Its current location serves two small floors with the Post Office a trek upstairs in the same building. Most of the time I need to visit Smith’s or the Post Office for some reason or another whether it’s to use their photo-me vendor or to buy stamps. Personally, I feel this is a terrible move for WHSmith and the Post Office as both have decreased in space and situated further away from the main walkways. They have attempted to «kill two birds with one stone» but for me, this has backfired. Their new format has certainly taken time to get used to.

If you’re on the hunt for greeting cards, this WHSmith has a massive selection of contemporary and timeless cards to choose from. There’s birthday cards for all ages from childrens’ cards to tongue in cheek cards for pensioners and those about to retire. There’s also comical cards for jokers, ironic cards for those with a dark sense of humour and rude cards for those that like a bit of provocation. If none of the above are your cup of tea, there’s also fresh and colourful updates on the standard flowers, cakes, wine, sports, landscapes and nudes. None of them are as cheap as somewhere like The Card Factory but ask yourself, would you rather have a card with a bunch of tulips or a side-splitting one by Modern Toss or Bunny Suicides? There’s no contest, right?!

W H Smith have recently relocated from the large store in Church Street to a smaller branch incorporating the Post Office within the Liverpool One shopping area. It’s a bit of a disappointment really and is more like a branch you would expect to find in a train station rather than as a major retail unit within the main shopping area. Its probably best for just grabbing a magazine or bestseller paperback which is a shame because they used to stock a lot of interesting titles and a good selection of cards and stationary too. Not going to comment on the Post Office(which relocated from St John’s) as I’ve not used it yet — the queue is too long!
