It’s easy to bypass The White Lion on the way to the historic square and the delights of The White Hart (
) and The Old Swan Inn (
). Maybe they should wedge an «Old» into their name. It wouldn’t be a fib, The White Lion has been a pub over two hundred years.
If it was located anywhere else, in Cardiff say, I would be raving about this place, but with such brilliant competition around the corner, it palls slightly. The White Lion is very nice, just not quite as nice as the previously mentioned pubs, but more than equal to The Kings Head (
) which is directly opposite it across the road. It has an open fireplace, a pool table and a jukebox, a couple of cask beers and all the lagers you’d usually expect to find. What it does have over the over pubs in Llantwit Major is a large projector screen for all the big football and rugby matches.
The White Lion is a good, solid pub.

Quite a youg corwd.
The locals used to drink ‘half and half’ which is half a regular lager and half a premium lager. I’ve been all around the world and I’ve not seen this phenomenon anywhere else.
