We arrived in London famished, and after cabbing it to the hotel we decided to eat on the grounds. I was immediately struck by how friendly and helpful all of the staff were, and took this as a good sign for our stay. Upon our server’s recommendation, I ordered the Devon Red chicken pie, with the lentil chowder as a starter. The chowder was one of the best I’ve had, and would be the standout dish for our subsequent meals at the restaurant. While we dined, a trio(standup bass, hollow body Gibson) played jazz standards in the corner. The scat-singing singer was way too young to know anything about scat singing, but nonetheless was pure cool. What I really liked is that the music did not overpower the conversations at the tables, but was enough of a presence for people dining alone to enjoy. We came here twice more during our stay, and I ate a last meal solo before leaving for Heathrow on our final morning in London. The bar next door can get pretty loud, so this is a nice respite for guests.

Good atmosphere, quite original and very classy, it’s relatively expensive but very friendly staff but I only had a juice so can’t judge the drinks really

The waiters were really nice. The environment is great to go with friends. It was a Thursday night and they had a DJ playing. A bit noisy, but it was more of a relaxing evening. The food was really good. I suggest the mini hot dogs appetizer.

Nice décor. Very so so good. I like crispy waffle, not the one that knife can’t cut through. Other than nothing worth singing praise

Came for a drive by on a Monday night as I am meeting three lovely ladies tomorrow and I wanted to pretend to be knowledgeable before we meet Anyway a little difficult to find. However when located. Felt a little odd walking into bar as it went via Resturant entrance. Looks somewhat posh but sat in bar in my own Barman was very informative. I had a great vodka along with a story of where it came from Will come again

Very posh place for drinks. It’s situated in the hotel lobby and it looks nice from the outside but once you go inside the colours are quite cold and solemn. The cocktails are really nice but expensive so it’s a good choice for a one-two drink catch up with a friend.

Amazing service and the food was very good. Came in for brunch for a friends birthday. The staff were on top form and our drinks were never empty. The food was excellent

Came to the«3 Southplace Bar & Grill restaurant» with a small group for dinner. Atmosphere was lively & buzzy. When you enter the door there is a bar to the left and the restaurant to the right. Décor is very modern & stylish. Food, service, and experience was good. We had the set menu and all food arrived very stylized. The only reason I would rank as 3 instead of higher is that my vegetarian main course which was advertised as being a tomato stuffed with cous cous and halloumi had only 1 microscopic shred of halloumi. I’d prefer for them to not have it on the menu if they are not going to really use the halloumi as an ingredient so that the customer can know what to expect. The dessert– the pistacchio cake– I had on the other hand was very nice. Service was attentive and the set menu was a fair price if you are not having the vegetarian entrée. I will most likely return but hope they will improve the vegetarian entrees to include the ingredients it advertises.

Hmmmm… Had high hopes for a nice weekend brunch at 3 South Place given all the rave reviews. This is a «hotel» restaurant in The City, very near Moorgate Station. If I were a guest at this hotel, I’d be very pleased to have this restaurant so close to «home!» Pros: *Brunch in the City on a weekend — a bit of a rare find. *Great service, lovely hosts, *Reservations accepted. *Posh & pleasant atmosphere. Very stylish and well appointed. Cons: *Pricey. £17 for a Full English and £4 for a Flat White. Yep. A bit much. *Food quality(at that price) was a bit«meh.» Not very exciting, nothing special about the offerings. At 90 quid for our foursome, I was just a bit underwhelmed. I would come back again for dinner, and my friend tells me its an excellent after work drinks spot that isn’t overrun and quite nice for a pint or cocktail. Seems like sound advice. «Price is only an issue — in the absence of Value.»(A simple truth)

We came here on a Friday, for after work drinks. Really buzzy bar on the ground floor. Busy, but still spacious. Plenty of seating. Being part of the hotel, prices are slightly pricier than the local pubs nearby. But the quality, comfort and atmosphere is well worth it.

I did not stay at the hotel, and the review is not about its accommodation. It’s for the South Place Bar & Grill on the ground floor. My friend and I each ordered the lobster bisque linguini and the dinner set menu. We also ordered different cocktails. Everything was great, and the service was impeccable as well. In particular, the lobster bisque linguini was not only done just right with plenty of chunks of lobster but also came in a big portion which was worth every pound. Their cocktails were amazing as well; I wish I had tried out some more, but simply couldn’t because we were so full. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an accessible and nice place to down near Moorgate and Bank.

We stayed in the hotel so this is a natural choice for dinner and drinks. During the Christmas break, Angler was closed except for very specific events :(Not that this place is bad! The menu itself is the intersection of British and American cuisines — you have the rarebit and the pot pies, but also the steaks and lobster rolls. The cocktail list had primarily American-style cocktails, very similar to the speakeasy reemergence we’ve been seeing back in San Francisco. They were decent, but very expensive comparing to what I’m used to(think the same number as a drink at a good lounge in SF, only in GBP not USD). I got the lamb chops with mint jelly — very tender and delicious. I also saw that they have«black cabbage» on the menu, and decided to order it out of curiosity. But it was just kale… silly me. The service was just ok… and the prices were pretty high. The food was actually really good, but with the number of decent restaurants around here, it might be a hard sell.

Came here for a Lime&Tonic event, Dine Another Day, and honestly couldn’t recommend it more. The spy-themed event took us on an adventure around the hotel, with canapés and champagne in the Garden bar to start(which is only open to guests and members), then a starter in one of its amazing suites, fish course in a private dining room, cocktails in the games room with a cracking pool table, main in the Michelin starred Angler restaurant(at the chefs table no less), and then finally dessert and espresso martini in 3 South Place. Incredible! The staff are fantastic, the food stunning, and the décor REALLY cool. Dark wood, modern design and a great atmosphere.

You ever walk through a place and go, «Woah. Just… woah.» That was my experience being toured through the South Place Hotel. A beautiful new building from the D&D Group, who have a ton of spots throughout London, including the new Old Bengal Bar. This hotel is fantastic. Although it doesn’t seem it, the whole place has a James Bond spy feel to it. Beautiful conference rooms with round tables meant to plan world domination from, game rooms with walls that looks like backgammon tables and are filled with old records, even the names of the rooms are named after famous spies and villians. There’s a bar and restaurant that are open to all and then a semi-private semi-secret bar up a bunch of floors for members and parties. On my own, I stopped here for a drink and it was quality. Fast, friendly service. Drinks are a bit overpriced but delicious all the same. And tons and tons and tons of room to sit. No problem at all to find a spot. Just walking through this place is incredible. I’ll update my review if I stay here for a night, but for now… just wow.
