Definately a hidden gem of a pub! Visited on a Saturday, great music not too loud for conversation. Good quality pints and large TV to show sports. On top of that free popcorn and friendly staff.

Was better than it is now, but boy you can have a good night here. Great mix in the crowd from banker brigade to real locals. excellent music(same songs every weekend ad nauseum though so you’d go mad if you were there each week), and some interesting gimmicks(spraying crowd with water is fun when it happens). Drinks aren’t very cheap but if you’re in the mood this cramped, small bar will keep you smiling all night… guaranteed!

The Urban Bar is tucked away between Narrow St and Commercial Road in the shadow of St Anne’s Church and is a lively little spot with music, and a younger crowd. We visited during the marathon and they were serving great burgers in the garden. On a more recent visit, I tried the Doom Bar and it was pretty good! Despite it being a 40th birthday party that we had inadvertently«crashed» we were made to feel welcome.

My buddy and I stumbled upon this gem of a place while looking for the Grapes. I don’t know if it was the good food, great atmosphere, friendly people or Mark’s dancing on the bar. but we never made it out of the place until it was time to head home. I highly recommend the Urban Bar to any one looking for a great time!
