6 St. Chad’s Place is a hidden alternative to most spots in King’s Cross. KC is on the rise, no question. New bars, new restaurants, new things to check out popping up all the time. What it’s still really missing though are breakfast spots. Yes, there’s things like Caravan or the Granary, but if you want simple meal with coffee that’s not overly tourist filled, you may be out of luck. Until you find this spot. I can’t talk about this place for dinner or night life, although I hear it’s big on both. No, I can only speak about breakfast, and on that level, they nailed it. SCP is down an alleyway that looks like it’s filled with nothing on top of nothing down the road from the station. Walk down, go through the big wooden door on your left and enter this one giant room establishment. Bar to your right, mural photograph of a train taking over the whole back wall, comfortable couches and chairs. it’s a fantastic spot for sitting and meeting with friends or getting work done. The breakfast menu is light — some eggs, some toast, a few toppings(salmon, mushrooms, etc). However, the croissant with eggs and salmon that I got was phenomenal. Toasted croissant, perfect eggs, lightly cut salmon, mmm. They don’t do a lot, but what they do, they do it well. Service was… eh. Unfriendly, never checked on us, brought us our food and that was about it. We were almost the only ones in there so no excuse on that part, but what are you going to do. Really, a hidden spot in an upcoming area that’s not quite there yet. A good one to know.
