Anyone who rates this place more than 1 star obviously has no taste or common sense, it is simply the worst fish and chip shop i have ever visited. The chips are undercooked, fried chicken dripping in oil and battered sausages absolute filth. If you have a car spend an extra 3 minutes by going to Kennedys opposite Streatham Hill station, worth the extra drive for fantastic food. Ace Plaice is simply awful.

Fish was a small portion and dry, and the chips undercooked and stodgy. Lacking in taste. Definitely won’t be going here again, only positive is the polite service, so regretfully have to leave this bad review.

The food is ok, quite reliable. The fish occasionally can be dry. My only gripe is that they post free menus all over the post code, all year round. I know they have to generate business… the food by itself wont quite create a ‘Ollys of Herne Hill’ reputation. Why the gripe? At my elderly mums house I put up a large sign on her front door saying ‘No Free Menus Please’, everyone respects this except AcePlaice. She’s a nervvy widower, and i try and reduce the amount of junk mail/doorstep selling she has to endure. Ace Plaice. sort out your mailing person, they are your representative.

Ace Plaice is a great f&c shop in the west norwood area. I’ve only tried their haddock one and always got very pleased with the result! Mind that they don’t take credit cards, but you got the barclays atm right next door.

a fantastic chip shop. I’m from Scotland and really missed a decent chip shop down here until I found this place. they are always careful about hygeine and the food is always fresh my favourite is a battered sausage and chips! I would general avoid the burgers and kebabs though since they don’t do many of those they are not as good. defenitely gge best chip shop in the area!

The Ace Plaice is definately a treasure in West Norwood and one can not help but to drool when you walk past the shop. The shop is located between Barclays bank and a DIY Paint Shop just in front of the bus stop. It is quite convenient that Barclays have their hole in the wall just next door as they do not accept credit cards or debit cards. The Ace Plaice is actually a Fish & Chips shop but they do sell a lot of different foods. Their open chips are quite popular as you always see hordes of people coming out there with chips and it smells and looks great. There are three tables inside if you like to sit and eat your meal then and there but majority of people take their food home. They are reasonably priced and have great specials for pensioners. Just a pitty that they do not deliver or wait, that is a good thing!
