Can not rate this place highly enough. They have such a wide range of teas to choose from, and samples for you to smell. The staff have great knowledge of the teas, and there is a type of tea for everyone — whether you like milky teas, fruity teas, green teas, I am always stuck for choice! There is also merchandise available and you can become a member to receive discounts! They also have incredible masseuses and offer a deal on massages on Mondays and Tuesdays — a great way to start the week!

Absolutely wonderful! I initially stopped into China Life as I was interested in the array of teas. Mind you, I found this place by accident by heading the wrong way while looking for my London flat. This was the best wrong turn I have ever taken! As someone who travels a great deal, sits at a computer all day, and travels quite a bit… I am always in need of a good massage. When I realized that China Life and AcuMedic were one, I immediately inquired about a massage. Ciara was so cheerful and so very helpful. After explaining my needs, without hesitation she recommended Gio for my massage. I scheduled a couple of days out and could not wait for the treatment after some long days of travel and unfamiliar beds. There are no words to describe the massage Gio gave! I knew the moment he gave me a firm handshake that this man was going to relieve my aches and pains. He asked me what problems that I have and I could see that he was visually assessing my needs as we chatted for a few minutes before the treatment. I prefer deep tissue given all of my neck and back issues, but I was in London on holiday and did not want to risk a headache or wanting only to go to bed afterwards. He understood my needs and gave me a few moments to get comfortable. This was, without a doubt, the BEST and most therapeutic massage I have ever had… and I have had many. I told Gio that I was going to have to take him back to the States with me! I have never felt so much relief the next day. He truly is a healer and I am already thinking about the next time I am in London and that an appointment(or two) with Gio will be the first thing that I plan. Based on my overall experience in China Life and AcuMedic, I would assume that all of the services are exceptional and would happily spend some time here if time allowed. I am also quite interested in the acupuncture treatments. I only wish I wasn’t thousands of miles away.

Had a deep tissue massage here, was good massage though I paid for 40mins and was only massaged for 30! I had to wait to be seen and they obviously start the counter from the actual time of booking, not the time they started, which is a complete ripoff, and for that reason I wouldnt come back here again. Also, they make you wait in the china life café, where there were no seats and when i was called in for my appt, i was shoved by customers leaving the café. A bit rude and silly layout for what is to be a relaxing and enjoybale experience(after an hour on Oxford street, the last thing i want when im going for a massage is to be shoved!)

I use this place to search for unusual ingredients. Where else would you find liquorice root, rose buds or yam biscuits? I’m off there now to see if they have any Chinese spoons.

After 2 weeks of long haul travel, various serious parties, hours and hours hunched over a laptop or blackberry, my body finally went on strike on Friday. My back seized up completely and only thanks to my stack of Ibuprofen did I get through the night. I went to the AcuMedic Centre on Saturday morning and begged for a slot for a chinese deep tissue massage(Tuina massage). I had to wait for 45 min — not too bad for a spontaneous appointment — I was lucky. Waiting is a treat in the centre: The centre has an amazing tea bar that offers the most exotic tea creations. I went for a traditional green tea — but was seriously tempted by a mix of frothed green tea and dark chocolade. They do lovely chai creations, too. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff incredible helpful and you can browse through the teashop(bring home some of the beautiful flower teas they have), the cosmetics and herbshop or just sit at the bar and sip your tea from the daintiest little glass cups(double glassing to avoid ‘hot’ fingers — genius. Purchasable there for £1.50 per cup) On the bar you will find a little box with what looks like barbed wire rings — they are in fact little reflexology massage finger rings — highly addictive. For those ladies amongst us who have used cold spoons fresh from the fridge in the past, to freshen up their eyes — go for one of the beautiful jade face rollers. Mine now has a home in my fridge butter compartment(who needs butter if you can look gorgeous) It really tightens your skin and refreshes — helps against headache, too. The massages and treatments are excellent. Lilian, my therapist did wonders to my back. The massage is not for the faint hearted — but it really does the trick. Lilian was lovely and cheerful so that I forgave her the pain that she was so skillfully causing. After 30 min my back started to give up and relax. Heaven! I have had a lot of massages in London — and this is definitely one of the best places I have been. They charge 10£ for 10£ min, which made my 30 min a 30£ treatment — it was worth evry single pound and you get a complimentary tea with it, too. The centre also offers consultations and pretty amazing acupucture packages. Anyway — I better stop hunching over my computer and restore my zen. Tomorrow I have my second slot with Lilian to ensure that my back keeps up the good work. If you are in the area, pop in and explore — the tea, the lotions and potions, ancient chinese knowledge, the menue and the treatments… definitely an experience.

Connected with the herbal tea and Chinese medicine shop China Life, AcuMedic Clinic has been a pioneer in Chinese Medicine since 1972. This centre is a 360 degree clinic dedicated to well being. Walking around the staff are lovely, and informative I really felt like I could spend hours here learning and reading. They have four sections, a bookshop, a clinic which do massages, and herbal consultation. A herbshop, as well as Chinalife teahouse and body clinic. They has an excellent librairy filled with books on acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, and healing. All their doctors are trained in both Western and Eastern medicine so have a highly informed view of bridging the balance between these two very different practices. As apart of their clinic, they run courses on quiting smoking, stress relief, detox, infertility and hay fever. They run Postgraduate Medical and Heathcare courses, as well as complimentary courses on Tai Chi.

Excellent and professional service, they have a really honest approach and good doctors. Sorted out my chronic headaches in a couple of sessions.
