Al Parco

Al Parco has a cool, fun and warm atmosphere and nice staff. My favorite is the margarita pizza which is never burnt or greasy and always cooked to perfection!

I live only ten minutes away from Al Parco.
And I often go in here just to buy a take away pizza.

Best pizza in London I think. Really tasty. Every time a new pizza comes out the oven I want to order another one. Authentic Italian family atmosphere. Close to the Heath. Perfect.

Al Parco pizza is good. The atmosphere is funky Italian pop-​idol retro. They played Latino jams the entire night and by the end of the meal I was busting a salsa so sick I should win awards for my hip movements. Where’s my medal? You don’t have one to offer me? Then why are you here? Shoo.
I got a Salassasso, I think. To be honest I have no idea what I got. It took 20 minutes to figure out what I wanted because the menu confused me. I’m generally confounded by lots of things as I am somewhat slow, but this menu’s impact on my befuddlement was greater than any normal source. What is antipasti?
The final result was good though. I absolutely demolished the wood-​fire baked pizza. The waitress moved a candle from a mantle that was directly behind my head so that my hair wouldn’t catch on fire. She had my back. I’m definitely coming back.

Although I have not been able to try out all pizzerias in London, I am absolutely certain that Al Parco serves the best and most authentic pizza in town. The base is thin and crispy, and there are many different topping combinations to choose from. Highly recommended are the Salappa for meaties, and the one with artichoke and spinach (the name escapes me) for veggies. All pizzas are available for take-​away, which is great in summer since Parliament Hill is just around the corner. The service can be slow when the restaurant is full, but all waiting staff are very friendly and approachable, and the great pizza more than makes up for any wait!

I am torn between giving this place three stars or four stars, but I think i’m going to go for three.
Basically, the food was very decent, but it took ages to come — like 45 minutes, and it was hard to get a waiter’s attention. Admittedly we were a big party, so perhaps they’d do better with a smaller table. It was a monday night though, so I don’t think they were too busy. Basically, the place could be RADICALLY improved by improving the service — just hire another waiter and tell waiters to go round to tables checking that people are ok for drinks etc. Then it would probably get 5 stars.
Anyway, probably worth giving them a chance — the food was very nice — especially the antipasto misto which was a mixture of artichoke, mozzarella, deliciously grilled pancetta, and salad.
With drinks, you’re looking at around £20 a head. The pizzas are around £7-£8 and the starters around £4-£6.

This is a fairly small, rustic, crowded but pleasant Italian place at the foot of Highgate West Hill, next to Parliament Hill fields (on bus route C2 and 214). The smell of freshly-​cooked pizza will drive you crazy if you walk past feeling hungry.
Admittedly I have never actually eaten-​in, preferring instead to order a take-​away. The perfect antidote to the over-​processed, heavy pizzas you get from Pizza hut and Dominoes. Thin, crispy and mouth-​wateringly tasty. These are proper Italian pizzas, cooked the authentic way.
They are also reasonably-​priced and the selection is vast. Of course, they do other dishes if you eat-​in, but apart from the fact these smell pretty good, I couldn’t tell you how good they are. Service is pretty pleasant and efficient too.
