I stumbled across this record shop today whilst househunting in the Finchley area. My partner and I were enticed in by a selection of quality, cheap 7“s outside the door. It was three hours later when we emerged, triumphantly clutching an eclectic mix of Indie, Motown, Soul, Progressive, Post Punk, Techno and Psychedelia, with each record as wondferful as the next. Let’s not even mention the amazing bounty we had to leave behind, promising ourselves that we’d return as soon as payday arrives. Alan, the owner is a friendly and knowledgable man who entreats customers to treat the shop«…as if it were your own home.» They have listening decks for both vinyl and CD and should you choose, you are free to inflict your newfound aural pleasures on the entire shop. Whether you’re a casual listener or a vinyl freak, Alan’s Records is really worth a visit. They have a massive selection of pretty much every genre you can imagine. Just make sure you have a few hours to spare as it’s really quite hard to tear yourself away from such a wide-ranging collection of musical-gems!
