We tried to use th free cocktail coupon, however the restaurant didn’t honor it, pretty bad. Food was ok, service really slow.

Breakfast today. Food was good, service was good. At the end, one Italian waiter said to the other Italian waiter as he was charging our credit card, right in front of us, in Italian: «Americans, charge double!» How do you say«Douche Bag» in Italian?

Had breakfast here several times. Great food, good service. However one day the service was a bit late and they comped us for our four meals. They couldn’t be nicer. Highly recommend.

I was pretty disappointed by our visit here after all the amazing reviews. We ended up picking this spot since they had a check in offer for brunch. We turned up at 11am on a Sunday but apparently brunch doesn’t start till noon(weirdly late for a meal that is half breakfast!). Tbh, we should have asked for the offer anyway, since we actually waited til almost noon for our food — which was so not worth it. The goat-cheese omelette was undercooked and had less than a thimbleful of goat cheese, and the french toasts were dry and unappetising.(Neither was it served with any syrup or honey — unusual). Both items needed more seasoning but the waitress barely came to check on us and it was too late to get any salt or sauce. On the plus side, there was lots of space to move around and it was quiet enough to talk. Deffo wouldn’t return though :(

We really enjoyed the food and ambience. My husband and I got the tastings. Each dish was excellent and they had nonissue accommodating a vegetarian!

This is a very nice restaurant located in the basement of a posh hotel. We were promptly seated and our order taken as I already knew what I wanted. The full breakfast, earl grey, and orange juice. The breakfast was fabulous and the black and white pudding was some of the best I have ever tasted. Seriously delicious! The orange juice was fresh squeezed using valencias, my absolute favorite. I am also pleased to report that Niki enjoyed her omlette and coffee very much. When Im happy its one thing but when she is happy, life is grand. The service here was very good and I will be seeing them again.

Really a 3.5 but I’m rounding up. Ate lunch here the day we landed in London. It was right next to our hotel(Exhibitionist) and we were tired after hopping the pond and this was convenient. Restaurant is beautiful but a bit easy to miss. It’s located in the basement of another swanky Kensington hotel. Because of this, there is not a lot of natural light in the interior but there was one table open underneath the windows that we snagged. We went with the prix-fix lunch special and shared four dishes — the smoked salmon, the chicken, some dish w poached eggs and asparagus, and I think the last was deviled eggs, but I can’t remember. Lots of peas but hey, we were in England! :) The food is absolutely delicious and plated beautifully. See pics. Service however was pretty slow and confused. We checked-in on Unilocal to get a free cocktail, as advertised, but they wouldn’t honor it. Waters weren’t refilled unless asked and, they charged us for 2 pieces of bread. We chalked it up to being a European service thing and lack of tipping culture. All in all it was a nice place to start out our London trip.

Adorable spot! Lots of charm & great atmosphere. Drinks were delish and service was excellent. The food was ok. The scallops were VERY small and not very good, and the Rosemary salted chips were not cooked fresh and a bit cold & soggy. The burrata, steak, prawn dish was excellent. I have a gluten allergy and the chef was willing to adapt the entrees to accommodate — super helpful!

This place is adorable! Apero is located in the basement level, connected to the hotel. The entrance is large and honestly a bit gaudy but you are then led into a more welcoming environment. Staff is really friendly and is happy to accommodate your needs. It was only about half filled when me and my friend came for a Sat brunch. My vegetarian breakfast was spot on, good portion size, fresh and well cooked. I’ve never really enjoyed large field mushroom or spinach like this before. We wanted the waffle, nutella, and banana to share but they ran out and offered us pancake instead. Adding this to my brunch list!

Absolutely amazing service, always having glasses topped up by staff wether it’s wine or water! If you check in there Unilocal offer a free cocktail with brunch but they do not accept that offer as Unilocal are offering it without them knowing and they can’t stop it! We ordered from the brunch menu and it was absolutely Devine! You definitely get a good amount of food for your money! Absolutely delicious! Accommodates vegetarians perfectly with a scrumptious full English! And a very large side order, I had the vegetarian breakfast, and then ordered a side order of smoked bacon! Definitely recommended!

I ate one of the best meals of my life tonight– and I am a dedicated foodie from the San Francisco Bay Area. I especially recommend the queen scallops baked with seaweed butter, the French quail with apple, miso and salt baked carrots and the bitter chocolate fondant with rosemary ice cream, honey truffle and pine nut crisp. For desert, my honey had the white chocolate mousse with tart apricot jelly and fresh blood orange sorbet which have a delightful tartness and perfectly offset the sweetness of the mousse. Really spectacular

I only had tea here, so cannot comment on the food(but I saw it on other tables and looked very good) the place is the basement bar of the newly renovated hotel and it is quiet and stylish, the staff is very polite and the menu has interesting stuff. This place is ideal for a relaxed afternoon or brunch, since the tables are not close and they let you chat. They are not fussy like in other places in South Ken when after you have had your drink seems like you are not welcome anymore and need to leave asap! Will come back for meals for sure

So i have been staying at the Ampersand hotel and Apero is tucked underneath the hotel. I usually don’t trust hotel restaurants. Well this place surprised and blew me away. Started with a wonderful, light and perfectly prepared lunch(arctic char and salad) Then all of my breakfasts were SUPERYUMMY. I am from the bay area where great food is plentiful. I left tonight wishing that the head chef would move to the bay area! Three dinners later: fresh, local, astoundingly flavorful yet«clean» simple, creative(yet not precious or overly creative) food… colorful and balanced. Food you simultaneously want to savor and yet dive in to!!! The food here is prepared in a way that tells you that the chef has a deep love for food, beautiful ingredients and for eating and is not trying to impress. Chris, the chef, really knows his stuff. Sad to leave London, as I could eat here night after night. The waitstaff is friendly and welcoming also… atmosphere is cozy. Thank you!

Stopped in here earlier on in the day on a Tuesday(about 7:45) and it was nearly empty. Food was fantastic, though, if a bit on the pricier side. I picked up their«Full English Breakfast» and an English breakfast tea and had a delightful meal. The eggs are fairly sweet and milky, toast was pretty standard fare, as were the kidneys and mushrooms. Was a huge fan of their black pudding. Ambience is probably better when it’s crowded, but I would have no way of knowing. The place is THE definition of swanky, though. Were it not so pricey(~£15 for just myself), I’d certainly come back. That said, I had a fantastic, filling meal and would recommend it to any friends passing through Kensington area for a quick, quality bite.

My daughter barfed hard the other day in Apero, and those warm hearted Italians were all, no big deal. My breakfast was, notwithstanding my 9 month old daughters refusal to just chiiiiill out, excellent. I love this place for supper, but breakfast is equally good.

My wife and I had dinner and drinks here one early weekday evening. It was just a couple blocks away from the South Kensington Tube station. The subterranean location is well lit from the line of short windows and the mostly white-painted brick walls. I liked the style of the arches scattered throughout. It was very comfortable. During the time we were present, there were a few people working on computers, a few enjoying drinks at the bar, a few having dinner. The three or four staff members were easily accessible, were pleasant, and were clearly fans of the menu. Our cocktails, the Quattro Fiumi and the De La Galette, were fantastic. I don’t typically order mixed drinks – so take my critique with a grain of salt – but we both ordered a second round. The menu is mostly small plates with a few that tended toward entrée size. It is a manageable list that will make any foodie salivate. The crispy fried mushrooms were tempura battered and fried perfectly, not too greasy. The Scottish Scallop was sealed in its shell along with a great sauce. The Gem Salad with asparagus and yellow beans is simply dressed with thin slices of a great formagella cheese. The roast hake and pork cheeks were also well balanced with good textures. The chocolate fondant and the caramel chocolate mousse, were perfect. All the dishes had a variety of textures and colors. The flavors were well balanced. Kudos to the kitchen and the bar for an interesting and well executed meal. I felt that the quality and portions were a good value for the price. Apero is at the top of my list for a nice dinner out.

I walk by Harrington road everyday and never saw Apero. Tucked away in a very tasteful basement conversation Apero is my new fav spot in my neighbourhood. Great food — cooked really really well. We were there for weekend breakfast(there is also a brunch menu. i kinda wish I’d come for that!) and I ordered the vegetarian breakfast with a side order of chicken sausages. YUMMYYYY.the mushrooms were cooked to perfection; the beans were simmered in this delicious sauce and the halloumi added that salty addition you sometimes need when your eating. And the sausages — just devine. The portions were HUGE so definitely value for money. I could have easily shared my breakfast Final addition, the coffee was perfection. I can’t stand places that serve bitter/overroasted coffee. Side notes: Ambiance was great — place was filled up with regulars. Obviously a neighbourhood fav. and now whenever I pass by I see its quite busy with people — so definitely book ahead if going for dinner. What I liked(but my partner didn’t) was the waiters gave you enough time to breathe and digest between courses/coffee/menu ordering. I can’t stand the feeling that I’m rushed. However, my partner complained that the servers weren’t attentive.

Smart. Apero is one smart cookie from the stylish décor, to the smooth waiters and the clever tie in of cocktails to the museums next door. But the food is the star. A great chef makes it look easy and that happens here. A saffron risotto — one of the great classics but so easy to get wrong — comes beautifully yellow and fluffily soft. The mackerel with radicchio is just the right mixture of sweet and salty, soft and crispy. An absolute standout. Duck with gnocchi and pumpkin wrapped in prosciutto is perfect for a winters day Definitely worth the visit and a mingle within the smart set of South Kensington.

Great menu & amazing cocktails. I particularly loved the mozzarella with sweet chilli and the beetroot risotto with Bream. Warm, friendly staff too.
