I loved the show I saw in the Arcola Tent, but the tent itself left a bit to be desired. The bench style seating is okay for less popular shows, but when the venue fills up for a weekend evening… it’s less comfy. The wooden benches were also not comfortable themselves. I found myself distracted because I couldn’t get comfy while watching about halfway through. Not to mention that it’s a little chilly in there, which will be fine for the summer season, but I don’t fancy a winter show in there. I was not aware of a bar or toilet facility in the tent, and was told to go to the main theatre, so maybe they got rid of them? Not sure what the bar/toilet situation actually is now. The toilets and bar in the main theatre are perfectly good.

Very cool venue, but if it’s cold out, BRING A COAT!

How long does a pop up need to be open before it is no longer called a pop up anymore?. When the Arcola theatre tent popped up earlier this year, a stones throw from the Arcola theatre itself, I assumed it was something for the summer. But there I was on a Friday in late November watching a superb(5 star show if you must know) cabaret in what is essentially a white circus tent. The tent has its own bar(tiny) and it’s own toilets(a bit scummy) and unlike going to a theatre there’s not much to look at once inside whilst waiting for the show to begin(unless you’re a fan of white canvas) but this place has it’s own charm and with a programme of performances still to go before Christmas I may be back very soon. PS — they do have heating, but it’s not the most effective as you can imagine — it is a tent! So wrap up warm if you’re going in winter.

The play was amazing, ‘A View From The Bridge’ only let down by the lawyer charecter not projecting over the sound of the background noise. however the venue is the most uncomfortable theatre in London and for something just built, it is a health hazard. 1. Bloody freezing inside I mean cold, so much so that nearly left at the interval 2. Awful planks of wood as seats 3. Massive gaps in stairs meaning wrong footing and you are over 4. No extractor so the stage smoke in scene 1 at the start was still there throughout the performance 5. Toliets are a joke 6. Bar set up, I am surprised that a local licencing officer hasn’t shut them down for how the bar is run.

5 stars for the play I saw last night, View From the Bridge, amazing cast. The tent itself has a certain charm, but you will need to wear something warm, and be careful if you use the toilets Price for the show is £9, or £6 with concession. Great theatre at ridiculously low price.
