Cozy atmosphere, tasty grilled chicken salad, great service, interesting patrons. Lots of laptoppers and people chatting. Glad I stopped in.

This place looks so warm and charming on the outside, but I was disappointed by the drinks. The chocolate martini was interesting but nothing I would order again. I like the feel of the place(something akin to a Seattle coffee house) but I was not thrilled by the drinks.

I often take friends and family to Bar Chocolate to sample the Chocolate Martini. It might be a tad on the pricier side for a mid-afternoon tipple but it is a good old boozy drink. I have only eaten here once, and if I remember rightly it was for Bangers and Mash — it was tasty. Mainly I come here for an afternoon drink and a break away from the crowds in the West End. The chocolate milkshake is yummy too, so if you can’t face the booze try that. The service could be a little friendlier and more attentive but otherwise the atmosphere is laid-back.

A firm favourite at Centaur towers, Bar Chocolate is one of those places you can got to, grab a drink and chill out within a comfortable environment. That’s no mean feat to pull off in Soho, where the turnover in terms of new bars and restaurants is high and competition is fierce. I can’t recommend the food(though I had a great salad here once upon a time) or the cocktails, and hell, it’s not the prettiest of places — but the staff are friendly and the location is so central it hurts. The atmosphere however it what brings people here, it’s relaxed, inviting and a great place to waste an evening or work during the day. All of the staff are wonderful, and pull off pretty attentive table service without interrupting every five minutes.

I like chocolate. I like bars. If this isn’t the perfect combo to satisfy my needs, then I don’t know what is. Bar Chocolate is my go-to bar of choice when in need of somewhere with a good selection of drinks, a cool, but not pretentious crowd and atmosphere, and also a good place to relax after a hard day selling movies to people that don’t want to see them, Blink and you might miss it, Bar Choc is located just down the road from another favourite of mine, Bodeans and whilst it isn’t the most«happening» of joints(i think that’s what the kids say) it does have a certain something about it that keeps me coming back again and again. The choc cocktails are delish, but their wine list is equally as pleasing. Cocktails are in the 5 – 6 nugget bracket and a large glass of good red wine will set you back about 5 coins. The food menu is also really good. The last time I ate in there I had a posh fish finger sandwich which made me rather moist in the pant area it was so good. Not entirely sure they still do it, but if you go in there… demand it or take some fish fingers with you for them to whip up. Sometimes it does get busy and you will have to wrestle other patrons for a seat, but its a cool place to just stand around and catch up with people. My recommendation would be to use it as a pre-cinema drinks location. Too easy. Sexy Rob

Small but perfectly formed. Lover of chocolate that I am, this visit has been a shockingly long time in coming, and I finally got there. I started my visit with the chocolate platter with hot chocolate. This is not meant to be the height of top quality chocolate and so in that sense, I enjoyed it tremendously. My new breakfast treat is going to be toasted croissant with chocolate spread… mmmmm yummy! I moved on, as it was late, to a chocolate martini. The rim of the glass was decorated with chocolate syrup and then chocolate shavings. What a lovely treat. Just perfect! I really recommend trying this place out. It is well worth the visit especially if you manage to get the couch :-)

Summer hot late afternoon and inside it still felt cool. Lovely atmosphere inside with a mishmash of tables and chairs. We eventually got a seat outside and enjoyed a Mediterranean platter for two which was just right. Cocktails were good but actually somewhat limited but still, a nice place to start off from.

A backstreet bar and restaurant that smacks of Shoreditch with s-p-a-c-e. Ah yes, no need to hustle and bustle to get a seat, after the Oxford Street slog you can dump your bags and sink into one of their vintage sofas safe in the knowledge that a troop of foreign exchange students aren’t hot on your heels. Don’t forget the chocolate, so much chocolate whether to drink or munch on, I sipped a chocolate martini followed by a hot chocolate. Quite possibly, my secret addiction has been outed right here.

This place is soo relaxed during the day! A great place to sip on Monmouth coffee and read the paper in peace. I visited primarily because the day was warm and I saw that they serve affogato al caffe… Plus, I had lot my bearings on the way to Milk Bar and needed a caffeine fix. I sadly can’t comment on the food or wine/cocktails, but coming back to rectify this is on the cards next time I’m in the neighbourhood.

After reading the reviews here I thought I should check out Bar Chocolate. Walking past here a couple weeks back, they had advertised themselves serving Monmouth Coffee(which I’m a bit of a sucker for), so that was the clincher. I tried it out for lunch and while it isn’t bad I don’t think it’s the best place for lunch in central London. The food is a bit overpriced, the coffee, not bad(but not amazing), the venue itself is pretty interesting and dilapidated, but probably works better as an evening spot than a place to have lunch, as it does come across as a bit too dingy. Dingyness is very important for me at night, but during the daynot so much, especially when you’re eating there. Pros — Monmouth coffee — decent/interesting food menu — good drinks menu(by all acounts) — friendly bar staff Cons — bit pricey — disinterested waiting staff — dingy venue(bad in daylight, good at night)

When my sister told me she wanted to go here for her birthday my heart filled with dread. At first I was concerned that my sister, the non-Londoner, was going to some commercial, trashy place that would be playing bad Rn’B, but I was pleasantly surprised. The place was snug with many chipped wooden tables crammed together to give a lively yet relaxed vibe. The great thing about this bar is the table service, which is done ever so politely and efficiently. It was a really good place for a birthday as they separated a section of seats off for us and let us pay for our drinks individually which stopped any confusing bills at the end. The chocolate cocktails are original, tasty and great for a treat. I really would recommend this place for a party or a few drinks after work, just to note though, it does get busy with the media types later in the evening.

I’ve only ever been here for drinks in the evening, but it’s quite nice for a drink before dinner or a night on the town. The wines are well priced and good, and during the winter they serve mulled wine, which is lovely. Every space possible is filled with tables, so It’s easy to get one if you get there early enough. I wouldn’t want to spend the whole evening here, though. It gets quite loud and there’s not much room to stand.

The perfect spot for some Soho-weary travelers to stumble into. After an hour of battling pre-Christmas crowds on Regents street, we called a friend for a refuge, and he directed us down some side streets to Chocolate Bar. Delicious mezze platter and a huge wedge of chocolate cake to finish it off. Yum.

Bar Chocolate is a nice little place on D’Arblay St. in Soho. The name is a little deceiving, as this place does a lot more than just chocolate related dishes. I’m not sure if that is a common misconception, but I just thought I would clarify it anyway. There is a really nice breakfast menu, that includes a selection of eggs, bacon, vege, fruit etc. The stand out choice has to be the chocolate board, a not too sinister breakfast that includes a croissant, toast, chocolate spread and a hot chocolate. There is also quite an extensive selection of sandwiches, boards(i.e. Meze board) and main courses. The main courses seem to be quite traditional English, with a bit of a twist. The place has a really good vibe, and is located perfectly in the back streets, away from the hustle and Bustle.

This bar cum restaurant has a really great location on an original Soho backstreet, far away enough to take a break from the bustle but near enough so you can get back to it in five minutes flat. Right between Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus it’s a real find. The wine list is great and the staff are fabulous. It’s getting busier every time I go in so if you fancy that early evening drink with friends you should book a table. It can get very crowded but it buzzes on Friday and Saturday nights. Very eclectic music policy and great food as well. If you are around soho and need a bite to eat then I would say try this place, they have some amazing hearty meals and interesting concoctions. The only odd thing is that there is not really much emphasis on chocolate, despite the name.

Do not order a hot chocolate — don’t be fooled into thinking anything is made out of chocolate in this bar. My University was not far away from Soho. I my spare free time I try to arrange to see my friends around that area, I might as well when I am central London. There is this in between time in the afternoon, you not really had lunch nor is it time to order a white wine already. What they do very well is the in-between lunches. They serve Mediterranean food platters with humus, pita bread, olives, salami, vegetables. This mezze comes on a wooden platter; perfect to share when you want to have proper girls chat in the afternoon. I was once shown Chocolate bar by a Swedish friend. Swedish people I experienced always have a good taste of stylish, insider bars a tourist would not find. Since then I always try to go to Chocolate bar again, but never find it. I just get lost in those small streets of Soho. At the end I always get there. In summer they have a couple of small tables outdoors in a little back street called d’Arblay Street. Inside there is a mini gallery of current artists, they have selected to display their art. It has not this white clean slick look what you are used by an art gallery but reminds you more of a coffee place with scrubbed wooden floor, has many chipped wooden tables crammed together to give a lively yet relaxed vibe. In the evening it can get a bit crowed by the so-called new media men. It’s also located in a great part of Soho — think fabric stores and cafes rather than ad agencies and tv companies!

I’d heard of this place long before I’d ever seen it, and based on what I’d heard, I was surprised by how ultra-unassuming it is. Tucked away down one of Soho’s labyrinthine streets, it can be hard to find if you’re looking for it… and you’re probably most likely to stumble upon it if you’re not. The later is what happened to me; I was wandering around Soho one late afternoon, semi-lost and starving. Happily enough, I turned down the right side street and found Bar Chocolate — this place that I’d heard so much about — staring right at me. How could I resist checking it out? The staff primly welcomed me and told me to sit wherever I wanted. After scouting a table I noticed the special of the day was a carrot and orange soup; intrigued, that’s what I ordered. My waitress nodded with approval, saying that she’d been eyeing it herself for lunch, and that I’d got the last one. Perhaps this was my misfortune… since the carrot and orange soup was unquestionably that… carrot AND orange. I don’t know what I was thinking… especially since I’m not very partial to carrot and orange juice… I guess that this would be carrot soup with a fragrant hint of citrus — mmmm… that sounded appealing, but this soup tasted like a hot carrot/orange smoothie — waaay too sweet for me… ahh well. I blame myself and not the chef… especially since there were SOOO many other tempting things on the menu to try… from the pea and cumin guacamole to the beetroot and halloumi sandwich — I’m anxious to go back! Also, major props to the staff. They were just so hospitable and friendly… eager to put you at ease like you were a member of the family. I felt right at home.

This has been my favourite café/bar in Soho for years as it’s a bit off the beaten track and offers a great choice of drinks and snacks — good for lunch, too. Not sure why I like it, perhaps because it is not so polished and definitely unpretentious. I like the mix of people, too. I never actually had anything chocolaty here, but the name alone is sweet enough.

The first time I came here, I was on a date with a handsome charming man. The cocktails were wonderful and they do a brilliant chocolate martini here. Seeing as I don’t usually like martinis I was impressed. So this bar left a pretty good impression on me. But then I went back a while ago with a friend(equally handsome and charming, of course!) and it had just lost its edge. The cocktails weren’t as nice, they’re more expensive now and you won’t get much change out of a tenner. And its well, just not worth the money. It’s small and poky and not all it’s cracked up to be. If there was one word to descirbe this bar it would be ‘meh’.

A rather expensive and slightly sorry looking café in Soho. They seem to sort of specialise in chocolate, but with hardly any commitment — a couple of chocolate desserts and a hot chocolate that tastes like Cadbury’s. £2 for a coke seems too much for me. And mains come in at nearly £10. Far too much for no atmosphere. It was also a bit dirty. Having said all that it’s not a bad place, and has a bookshelf with books in it.
