My mates and i have enjoyed many a night out in this bar, attracted by it’s good-looking and energetic crowd. The bar is quite narrow, especially around the bar area which can be annoying when you’re waiting for service or trying to get either side of the bar, either to sit down or go to the toilet. Saying that the service is quick, the range of drinks and cocktails are good as are the range of shots. The staff are usually very lively and attractive. Likewise the people who come here. Great place for groups if you can secure one of the seated area’s.

Naming this bar ‘local’ was no accident, as it’s the first bar or pub you see as you exit the tube station on the Southside exit. It’s on the same rank as Clapham favourite People’s Republic, but don’t let that put you off as Local is actually pretty decent. One good thing about the bar is that there’s maps lining the walls, which always prompts hilarity when drunk«Oh my GOD, i live THERE». It’s deceptively big, given the small inconspicuous façade with lots of sitting. A great place for a intimate drink, i wouldn’t advice large groups to descend upon here as part of the charisma of the place is the cosy atmosphere. Given that Clapham is filled with a LOT of crappy bars, this is a class above the rest, but it really doesn’t take much!

Bar Local in Clapham Common is the main bar when you enter the borough. It’s like a couple of yards away from the tube. The décor is really cool with art all over the walls. Bar Local usually have DJ’s spinning tunes daily, at the end of the bar and the friendly staff add to the atmosphere as they are really relaxed and very helpful at the same time, even though it does get quite busy at times. It is just one of them standard bars with a bit of music, but if vibe is nice then the price is right(so that means the vibe is nice in there, you can visit and spend money on the bar, ha ha!)

Handy local — it’s directly opposite Clapham Common tube. I’ve ended up here a few times, though wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than their ‘Mohito Mondays’ when you can get 2 for £6. The atmosphere is pretty good, they play decent/non-offensive music. It’s a small bar, I wouldn’t fancy it on a busy weekend evening. I would never eat here again, although the food is cheap, it’s ridiculously salty, I asked for my first main meal to be replaced(I’ve never done this in a restaurant/bar) the next meal was still very salty.

I agree withe the 2 separate reviews(cheeky) by ahunter. Nothing special, just a plain bar, but I always seem to end up here after dinner at restaurants in the area because it’s easy, close to the Tube and quick bar service for a quick drink before heading home. Any suggestions for better places around the Common welcomed.

Chilled place for a meeting with friends or just a drink for two. easy to find because it is opposite the tube station and on week nights it is quiet and calm. they have enough space to fit a big party(we were 14 when I went there and all managed to sit at one table) they have a nice range of beer and great leffe. the food is nice and not too expensive, nothing fancy but just some fatty fried stuff and bugers. exactly what you want with your beer. I also heard that the wine was nice so it is good news. chilled for an evening when you don’t feel like having your feet stood on and your ears made deaf by loud noises
