nice cuts. friendly staff. but: a. annoyingly pushy in trying to sell you care products, whether you want them or not. /unreliable appountments. on both my long pre-scheduled appointments so far, the hairdresser didn’t show up, one time half an hour late, the second time not at all.

This is my regular hair salon. It’s bright and friendly. Muswell Hill has more hair salons per capita, than anywhere else in London I’m sure, so competition is fierce. Barrons has been here for a long time — so it’s formula must be working. Staff are good at what they do — you’re guaranteed of a good cut, colour, blowdry. They also have a portrait photography studio downstairs. Barrons are also very particular about the products they use: Phyto, Nioxin and Aveda and they avoid the scary chemical stuff. I’ve tried a few of the other salons in MH, and would rate Barrons as one of the top salons in the area.

I like Barrons as the atmosphere is very relaxed and my stylist(Juliana) is very attentive to what I say and very good at explaining what can and cannot be achieved. I generally bring some exemplar photos with me and the result is never disappointing. I trusted Juliana to cut my hair from long to short and I never regretted having changed style and also my hairdresser, by becoming a customer of Barrons.

Had a terrible experience at Barrons. I booked a senior stylist and half way through the cut she(Juliana) admitted she was still at college and asked if she could take a before and after shot as she was learning to cut long hair short and needed to show her teacher! I said I did not want my hair short. She said it would be fine. Well she kept cutting it shorter and shorter and I kept asking her to stop but she insisted it would be fine. She said my hair was boring and she was fixing it. I ended up with hideous hair which was very very short at the back and sides and just a huge flop mess at the front. She said I could fix it up properly at home! She actually said that. THe hair washer who was a very nice guy came over and actually laughed at my hair. I agreed that it was disgraceful. I said I was not happy with it and she shrugged her shoulders. I rang the owner the next day who was completely uninterested. Too busy to talk. Said to come back next time I wanted a haircut. What? Absolutely bizarre. Bad haircut. Owner who doesn’t give a damn. Avoid this place like the plague.

I have had a poor experience at this salon. The Staff are friendly but I did not like the haircut I received. It was not what I asked for. I ended up paying for another place in crouch end to fix it total cost £130 for a cut. Go elsewhere.
