Nice little tea shop just round the corner from mine. Great selection of teas. It does get a bit noisy in there though when there are lots of kids.

Of all the people to recommend this place to me, it was an estate agent as she sped away from one house she had shown us around on her way to another. The first viewing was simply a blur but a good enough looking blur for us to walk back and beg for a space to sit and eat cake. It was packed with mothers with children and we were actually turned away as it was so full, but we did get offered a seat outside around the back(don’t think they expected us to take it as it was a bit of a cold day — but we NEEDED cake so snapped at the chance). The outside bit is quite big actually, that too must get to bursting point on a sunny day, and the room around the back is cosy and comfy too. Enough about the seats, let’s get to the tea and cake! There is a great selection of teas from proper Chinese stuff(very technical I know) to the random infusions and granny tea. A tea for all sorts. The cakes were amazing! They have a cake selection plate that we tried as we though they’d be small slices and we wanted to try lots of different cakes — the plate was rammed full of 5 slices of different cakes(you can choose which ones you want of course) and it would have been rude not to finish them all. Beautiful home made cakes, can’t get better. Quick tip: come closer to closing time, I think you get bigger slices of cake as they want to get rid of them :) Great little place, quite new I think, and it overlooks the park which makes for a wonderful view through the big windowed frontage.

Today was the opening of a brand new tea room in Palmers Green, Baskervilles Tea Shop. There was a long queue all the way outside and it was raining, which is a good indication of how popular the launch was. With free tea tasters and cake bites to choose from(lemon drizzle cake, chocolate tiffin, almond shortbread slice) plus a menu featuring cream tea, sandwiches and a variety of cakes, this tea room is a breath of fresh air in stale Palmers Green. The décor is retro, the atmosphere friendly, there’s plenty to do for children(colouring books etc) plus when the weather is more favourable you can get seating both outside on the pavement and at the back in the garden. I will come back on Monday hoping it will be less busy and take it all in properly
