I’m a big fan of this bar. Great for date night with sexy low lighting and a piano player. You sit down and they bring you an iPad cocktail menu and recommend a few favourites. I only had one — the Bocal(Grey Goose La Poire Vodka, fresh pomegranate seeds and lemon juice, sugar, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur). It was served in an impressive tall glass and tasted fantastic. Great mix of flavours. They supply little nibbles of wasabi nuts, rice cakes, nuts and olives on each table and replenish them regularly. We really appreciated this as we were hungry! Service was good and would definitely go back if in the area.

Can I go back? Now? Several years ago I stayed at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest and had the good fortune to try their cocktail bar. That was perfect. This place? It seriously calls for six stars! Once you enter this room you tend to forget all around you. You enter into a time warp and end up in a place most of us tend to expect has ceased to exist. But here you are. Being addressed sir, miss, madam etc.(and usefully spot on) with a piano thus live music on a Saturday afternoon. You can even get yourself a bite of food if need be. All in all a near perfect cocktail bar. But it comes at a price. More specifically the price level and that’s the only thing keeping me from a fiver. Other then that, it’s perfect.

The Mantovani was cool and refreshing! I could barely taste the vodka under the cucumber and elderflower liqueur. The complimentary spiced nuts and olives were delicious as well.

Amazing little piano bar in the Corinthia Hotel. Perfect service, even got some Sushi for free! This a place you bring a lovely girl, order a bottle of rosé bubbly, and celebrate life!

After a deliciously superb dinner in the Northall Restaurant, located within the Five Star Corinthia Hotel, my partner and I led our in-laws through the beautiful restaurant towards this gem. With large, beautifully-designed brass doors, you enter this bar and you are immediately stepping into a new world. Live music was playing when we entered, by a gentlemen on a black piano. This piano was also a part of the bar counter, as the top flowed all the way around. There are jazz influences in the artwork throughout the bar, and the seats are comfortable and elegantly designed. The drinks are not inexpensive(glasses of wine start at £8.50; cocktails at £16), as one would expect in a place of this calibre, however a glass of Laurent-Perrier(£15) is served almost to the top of the champagne flute(well worth it).

Stunning Art Deco bar in the Corinthia Hotel. Great cocktails at a price, wines from £40.00-£3750.00. Unobtrusive live music, muted lighting perfect and pricey. For the smokers they have an outside atrium room with sofas, tables, vast umbrellas and fireplaces. I’ll say that again, fireplaces! This is a perfect place to impress to impress if that is your aim. If my pockets were deeper I would be in here a lot.

As far as luxury cocktails go the Bassoon Bar has it nailed! The Coninthia Gold was simple divine consisting of Champagne, Bombay Dry Gin, Martini Gold Vermouth, and a few fruit juices. The presentation was too cute, with three different petals dusted in gold that really did look good enough to eat! The service was one of the best I’ve had in a cocktail bar, as this, being honest, isn’t your normal cocktail bar. This is classy, stylish and up market. Being met at the door by the bar manager also sets this bar aside from the rest, giving it a very personal touch. The snacks they place upon your table are also very scrumptious! Then much to our surprise they brought around Sushi for every table, and this again was above par! This is definitely a bar that should be put on your list of things to do if you’re in or around London.

This is a beautiful bar full of beautiful people(with the occasional bemused and moneyed family wandering in from the main hotel). I’ve never seen it get really busy, but that may be the times I’ve visited. Either way, if you’re looking for somewhere to drink expertly mixed cocktails in a shadowy and expensive atmosphere, this is a good bet. The price of the cocktails reflects both their quality and Bassoon’s location in the 5 star Corinthia — expect to pay £10-£15 per drink. However, you’ll also get a carefully chosen assortment of bar snacks and really attentive service from the waiters(which verges on the bizarre at times. I once ordered the scariest, strongest cocktail on the menu and the barman gave me some biscuits to accompany it. Biscuits! WTF?!) Unexpected biscuits aside, this is a lovely bar, and a perfect place to while away a rainy afternoon or evening. The times I’ve visited the atmosphere has always been plush and muted in that particular way that hotel bars have — couldn’t speak for Saturday nights though, perhaps there’s dancing on the tables.
