Battersea Evolution

I went to Battersea Evolution on Wednesday night [May 1^st] for the Sports Industry Awards. It was a fantastic night. Lots of faces, with Olympic athletes, world class sporting personalities, politicians, soap stars and sports broadcasters, Dame Tanni Grey-​Thompson to Keith Lemon [ what has he got to do with sports? ] and all brilliantly compered by Martin Bayfield. And the stream of celebs presenting the awards kept it fresh and pacy.
The venue is amazing. 1800 of us enjoyed a drinks reception and had a top class dinner and there was room to spare.
I have done lots of dinners like this; industry presentations, testimonials, charity nights etc but none compare to this experience; the imposing sound and impressive lighting made sure everyone paid attention to the awards ceremony; the food was amazing considering how many they catered [ even Jamie Oliver praised it ] and the service kept the event flowing with pace.
The Sports Industry Awards are a special night out. I was priviledged to be invited. The whole evening was a wow. And the venue and the organisation were amazing.

But…(yes there is always a but) the transport links to get here are not the easiest to navigate. Especially for those late night events, you’re almost stuck across the river if you don’t have a car or a friend willing to stay sober and give you a ride.
The park in the evening is also not well lit, so if you are relying on public transportation to take you home, be careful walking in the dark because you’re going to have a bit of a trek.
