Love this course! I’m a pretty low quality amateur player, but anyone can enjoy a round at Beckenham Place Park. Originally a public golf course run by Lewisham council, the course is now operated by Glendale Golf — a private company tasked with running and maintaining the course. The course is a challenging(for me at least) 18 holes set across the park in beautiful wooded surroundings. A mixture of long holes with beautiful driving opportunities(the first is hole is 500+ yards!!) and shorter less challenging holes, the course takes you across a wide area playing both up and down hill. Although the full 18 holes and long fairways may seem daunting at first for beginners, I would actually recommend this course to new players as the fairways are very wide and forgiving — meaning you spend less time hunting for your ball in the rough during those early days of play, which can be a surefire way to ruin a good round! The course is also challenging enough for more advanced players with some tough greens and large dog legs. There aren’t many faults I can find with this golf course, but it’s worth noting that due to the space also being a public park you may find blissfully unaware sunbathers on your green, and there are a lot of dog walkers doing the rounds. Keep your wits about you and have a good look at the stretch ahead before you start ripping shots off the tee! Yes some of the greens are a little shoddy, and there is some mud around and about but at the end of the day this is still a publicly owned golf course and from what I’ve heard it’s a lot better than it used to be; and hell — you’re usually playing for sub £20! Golfers — get down to Beckenham, maybe you can challenge me to a round… you’ll definitely win.

Considering its a public course its pretty impressive. Holes are long, in good condition and challenging enough for a social golfer. Greens can be patchy at times and price around 16−20pound a round is not dirt cheap. But its right in the middle of town so popular. Its certainly worth a round.
