Overall the beefeater is distinctly average. I had to ask for a new glass twice when I ordered a drink, the first one had grass in it and the second had lipstick marks over the rim.
The wait for the food was about 35 mins, but that was just a main course. When it arrived, the food was great and that’s the main reason I will be visiting again, that and they have a lovely garden area which is nice in the summer. What it lacks in service it makes up for in food quality.

The Fountain is a typical Beefeater. On the plus side, it’s just been renovated, and the menu is improved. On the minus side, the prices are a little on the high side for some items and there’s no safe outdoor area for children to play in. Given that they seem to be trying to attract family business, that last point is particularly disappointing surely the renovation would have been an ideal time to fence off some of the large garden to create a small play area. We use it because it’s local and they don’t mind spirited children too much. Don’t go for a quick bite though — the average three-​course meal has yet to take less than 2.5 hours to complete.
