Beautiful classic pub building with original woodwork, amazing stained glass atrium in each room, and fantastic original tin ceiling. In need of some care and repair in a few places. We stopped by during a game and were treated to real West Ham football culture while watching the game on the large screen TV. Fun for fans and those who aren’t supporting either side, but probably not a great choice for away fans.

This is probably your best option for a pre-match pint, but lets be honest… it’s not exactly a palace… at least not anymore. The building itself actually has some amazing architectural touches, but very little has been put into it. It is however the full experience. sticky carpets, quick service, lots of singing(or sulking depending on the outcome) and oh yeah a lot of men standing around… feels a bit like a prison. But again. definitely your best option pre or post match while you wait for the Tube queue to die down. Also — don’t miss out on the Rib Man who has a stall in the Green street side courtyard. Best food within a square km.

Went here for a pint(or two) w/some mates after the West Ham vs. West Bromwich match. Sometimes your impression of a place is determined by the food/beverage or ambiance and sometime its the crowd. This place happened to have both that evening. A good selection of beers on tap and much conviviality. It’s right across the street from the stadium, so a convenient option vs. battling the crowds at the nearby Tube stop after the game lets out. Brilliant!

A truly classic pub. Except if you’re an away fan, because you’d be unwise to enter even on non-match days. On match days you can expect a fair amount of queueing at the bar but to combat that I always grab myself as much as i can carry plus a quick double shot whilst at the bar! The staff are friendly and generally quite quick to serve. I’ve spent many a happy pre-match in here, chanting the more dodgy west ham chants, drinking away and having beer thrown all over the room, drenching all the irons present. Whilst fans compare tattoos and I, being a softy, steer clear of the more hardened looking types, everyone in here is having a good time. Though deep down everyone knows that this will be that little bit more exciting and rewarding than the 90 minutes of football that are about to happen!
